Hi all fellow sufferers.
I thought it would be nice to have a thread we can all use for support.

Am so that some of you guys have had such an awful time. I had my GB out last Easter, having had GP's diagnosis confirmed the October before, so about a 5 month wait.

Just to put people's minds at rest, I was an NHS patient throughout and my treatment was fabulous from start to finish.

After my surgery I had a letter saying they had found traces of endosalpingiosis, which had to be checked out but was nothing to worry about. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has had this though?

Hi there. I had an ultrasound last week, and was told i have lots of small stones, but haven't been back to GP yet. Am following a low fat diet, which is working OK at the moment. If i go ahead with surgery, how long will recovery take? I have 2 DCs, one of whom has special needs. Do they always use keyhole surgery now?

womblingfree · 19/01/2009 11:52

I think they always start with keyhole and only convert to open surgery if absolutely necessary. It worried me a bit as I am about 5 1/2 stone overweight but if they managed mine with keyhole....!

I felt Ok in myself, but v. tired. Had the double bed to myself and afternoon naps for about 10 days afterwards. Fortunately my DH works at a school and was off for the Easter hols when I had mine done. You will need to rest, although I might have been a bit worse off as it was the first time I'd ever had a general anaesthetic.

Hurray! got my operation date for a couple of weeks. Want to know from those of you who've been through it - how long does it take to recover? The hospital have given me a date in school holidays when partner is away (thanks guys) so will need to sort out rota of friends - which may be tricky around them working, looking after multi-kids etc. So - how many days just in bed, how many days till you could get up & cook meals, how long till I could walk kids to school (1 mile round trip)???

I had Gall stones in my first pregnancy and had my Gall Bladder removed when my DS was 10 weeks old... That was 3 years ago now...
It was the most amazing thing in the world... (apart from having my babies) LOL

The best thing to do if you get an attack(i was told) was to keep going into A&E and they will eventually be sick of the sight of you they should get ur op done ASAP...

Well it worked for me and my friend anyway xxxxxx
