Changes in breast

Hi

I'll start this by saying I'll be making a docs appointment because I feel like this has been going on a while now, but I'm wondering if these sound like normal breast changes.

I had a baby almost 18monthd ago and she stopped breastfeeding in January
If I squeeze my nipple I still get some odd coloured milk coming out.

That aside since January I've noticed the following changes mostly to my right boob:

Boob (not nipple) feels rough like blocked pores. Occasionally one of the rough bit gets like a white head on it. Went to the docs and they said it was normal and gave me an emolient. Hasn't made a difference.

Nipple and breast very itchy and nipple feels sometimes irritated or like a burning pain through it, but not like thrush.

Nipple gets crusty, the other day I brushed the crust off and it bled a bit.

Had pain and what felt like a bit of swelling in my right armpit for about a week. Now just occasion tender.

Breast sometimes feels like it's "vibrating" inside.

Was laying down last night and took a pic and noticed a dent in the side of my boob. I can notice it a bit when standing looking at the boob in the mirror
No other lumps and bumps. I've been been to the doctor's twice and they've dismissed it but I'm not comfortable about this anymore.

Good idea to get it checked or are these normal post baby changes.

Thanks

I had similar symptoms, no dent but nipple inversion instead. I had stopped feeding 6 months prior to it starting. Anyway it turned out to be nipple ectasia though I don't fit the demographic for it.
I wouldn't have been comfortable not knowing for sure though and would definitely push for referral to breast clinic.

Thank you. That's reassuring. Something definitely isn't quite right so for my own sanity I have to get it properly checked.

My mother had breast cancer in her 70s.

For months before her diagnosis, she had noticed a change of shape and a dent in the side of her breast. And didn't say anything to anyone.

You noticed skin changes, it needs to be investigated.

Ask for a mammogram and if gp refuses, take out a piece of paper and pen from your bag and ask him/her to write down that he 100% knows for sure it isn't breast cancer.

I’ve been having that fluttering, vibrating sensation - no lumps or other changes. Too scared to go to the doctor, and also too difficult to get an appointment.

Thanks @LiliesAndChocolate

I'm going to be really firm with them when I go this week. I'm sure it's nothing but it's really playing on my mind and needs sorting one way or another.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses please try to make an appointment. Surely it's better to check and know than to worry yourself

Not long got back from the GP who referred me right away. He has said that there are some concerning symptoms but I'm young and try not to worry.

He was less reassuring than I thought he would be, I think I expected him to say it's nothing and he didn't.

Anyway, two week referral so I guess I'll pop back once I've had the appointment.

Thanks x

It is good to investigate it. They are high chances it will be nothing, but the whole point is you can't know, the technology is there to find out, let's find out.
Best of luck from Australia!

I'm reflecting back on this post as at the time I came back all clear, only to find a lump in my armpit 18 months later and it actually be triple negative breast cancer.

I started chemo just after Christmas and it's shit.

My consultant said that it wouldn't have been there the first time around which I generally accept but part of me does wonder.

Musings from chemo insomnia sigh.

Hi @MidnightLoo want to join us on the cancer chat thread? Quite a few of us there doing chemo. Chemo seems to be never quite the same for any two people but fair to say there are a few of us who would describe it as shit at least some of the time. How many cycles to go? I've got 5 of 7 on Monday so over half way!! Probably seems a long way off right now but it comes around.
