For the last few weeks and particularly this morning my 4yr old ds is complaining his legs are wonky, he says they dont hurt, yesterday he didnt want to walk around the supermarket and asked to get a trolley with a seat, he wanted me to carry him out of the car to the front door too. DH said he was walking "funny" when he dropped him off at school. We have asked his teacher to keep an eye on him today. I dont know what this could be or what I should be looking for. He is pigeon toed and his left leg turns in at the hip anyway so its hard to tell whats going on. The Paedetrician has checked this out previously and said theres nothing to worry about. Anyone had this or know what I should be looking for. Should we see a Doctor. Paranoid pepsi again.

Pepsi, don't worry, you're not been paranoid. My ds suffers from this too in both legs, one worse than the other. The Paed told us there was nothing to worry about either and that he would (eventually) grow out of it. When was the last time he was seen by the paed? The condition is obviously bothering your ds in some way, my ds never mentions it and he too is 4. If I were you, I'd go back to the GP and ask for another referal. HTH

My Ds is under the paed for other reasons really, his concentration, listending and stuff, the nursery thought he might be dyspraxic so we got a referral on that basis, we have only seen the paed once and are due to see him again in October. Littlemissbossy could you tell me more about your ds's condition, or is it an actually condition or just something to do with growing pains. Do you think I should take him to the doctor in the meantime? Its hard to know how is is feeling because he probably cant use all the right words to describe it. Is it common do you know.

Is it possible that he is a little off balance, more noticeably than usual, due to say an ear infection or congestion due to a cold ? Or is he tired from school perhaps, dd has slightly inturned leg which becomes more noticeable if she is tired or under par. It may not be specifically related to his legs but that may be how he interprets it, iyswim.

You could be right Lizs, he has just started reception and although we have been puting him to bed at 7.30 he has still be awake at 9.00 and waking at 7.00 am. He has been more whiny than usual. Im just worried that there could be something serious behind it.

I can understand why you are worried. We've been to the paediatrician at least twice when she hasn't been walking properly. Once we had diagnosis of "hip cold" ! ie fluid had collected in her hip socket following a cold. We had some anti-inflammatories and it resolved itself within a couple of days.

Each time we go now it is "are you here about her leg again" before I even get a chance to explain. Last time I was assured that it was not a real problem and would sort itself even before I said we were actually there because she'd crushed her foot under her pushchair and we had already told the Receptionist why we needed the appointment.

tonight he has come home from school and is walking worse, he said he couldnt get into the bath properly because he was stiff. Have booked doctors for Thursday but some more info from anyone out there would be great. Im getting really worried, despite earlier messages.

Have they checked his hips? Sorry if this has already been asked.
