Fancy a flutter? Chicken Pox or Flea bites?!

DS nursery said they think he might have chicken pox as he has 4 or 5 red spots on his torso. DH taking him to GP this afternoon.

My gut feeling is that they are flea bites from a hard survivor of the flea-massacre we conducted post-holiday.

Only photo's I can find are of full blown pox-y blister-y spots.

But you'd think a nursery could spot chicken pox at a glance wouldn't you!?

Slightly anxious 'bump' ( or do I mean 'spot' ?)

I feel somewhat disempowered in this whole diagnosis process by the fact I am stuck at work unable to check the progress of the spots on a minute by minute basis!

Mmm ... could well be chicken pox - they start out looking like flea bites.

I am amazed they haven't asked you to come and collect your ds straight away!

Hmmm

Chicken pox do tend to start on the torso and I would have thought (and ime) flea bites tend to be more common on arms or legs...

My 5yo DD has a number of red spots (like flea bites) on her legs atm. I was also wondering about chicken pox but she has nothing on her body.

Tigana · 20/07/2007 13:51

They told us they were concerned when he was collected from them yesterday...and he can't go in this afternoon until GP gives all clear...

would go with CP
usually starts in a small cluster on the torso or neck

let us know

BettySpaghetti · 20/07/2007 13:53

I'll put money on chicken pox.

My friends lo had flea bites but they were on "exposed" areas like the neck, forearms and ankles

Tigana · 20/07/2007 13:56

Oh pants! No offence but I hope you are all wrong!!

Timing is all wrong for an ill, infectious ds right now! (Poor child!)

I'm hoping that DD's aren't the pox as we fly to Portugal a week tomorrow !

Tigana · 20/07/2007 15:37

DH should be at Dr's with him right now

torso?

pox

fleabites usually on ankles.

Tigana · 20/07/2007 15:43

DH reckoned they were fading when I spoke to him earlier...but I may not believe him...

I was thinking of flea ambushing him while lying in cot rather than attacking from carpet level?! Hence tummy bites.

my kids were mainly bitten on their torsos when we had a flea infestation - I guess they spend a lot of time sitting on the floor.

Tigana · 20/07/2007 16:16

AIBU to expect DH to phone me as soon as he knows, either way, to either put my mind at rest or send me into calpol/piriton buying frenzy?
