Dental implants abroad

I'm UK based and facing the prospect of paying £6.5k for two dental implants, including a sinus lift. Has anyone had an experience of going abroad for dental work, particularly for teeth implants? Expensive? Good quality? How many trips? Thanks!

Wow, that's pricey, OP! No idea about this but bumping in hopes that someone else will be along soon who knows more.

AutumnCrow · 21/05/2019 17:20

I have been to an excellent clinic in Budapest highly recommend Helvetic clinics. I have had extensive dental treatment including implants for less than half what i was quoted in the UK

TweenageAngst · 22/05/2019 07:20

It is an incredibly slick operation, all speak excellent English.

TweenageAngst thank you so much for the recommendation Smile

I highly recommend Save on Dental Care in Budapest- I've just had 3x implants and 2 crowns for £3k. They really look after you, meet and take you back to the airport plus all the shuttles between appointments and your hotel. Both myself and my husband had treatment and couldn't fault them

LennyLady - thank you! That is great that you've had such good service. Please can I ask you how many trips you needed take for your implants? So reassuring to hear of this, I've been sick to my stomach thinking about this massive bill!

I had to go for 3 days for the first visit, where they prep for the implants going in- they pay the cost of the first return flight out there up to £100 I think, WhizzAir are super cheap - and the hotel was very cheap and then had to return for a further 5 days after 6 months where they actually fit the implant, they do first fits over the beginning of the week and then final fit on the Thursday and they see you on the Friday to check all is well. It's a very through operation, they only deal with English patients and they having been going for around 10 years so

LennyLady - thank you for explaining all this. That sounds really positive too. Much appreciated Smile

LennyLady- I went for a dental first visit in Budapest to a different but equally professional clinic. I was told that the implants are insured for 10 years but only if I went there for regular checks (visit and oral hygene) every six months. This fact made me opt out the treatment plan for the inconvenience and the cost on the long term. I wonder if you had the same type of agreement or similar?

I travelled to the Brighton implant clinic and had mine done for £1000 each by Dr Bruno de Silva. He is excellent and they've lasted years. I'm just having another one same price. The cost of a sinus lift is on the on the website. Careful there are 2 Brighton clinics with similar names. It's pay as you go so not all up front too. They have their own lab and MRI which massively cuts costs.

Jon65 · 04/06/2019 23:48

In Gibraltar they are £1600 each. If something goes wrong in Budapest, you have a different legal system and a language barrier. I just wouldn't.

I know at least 8 immediate friends who have been to Budapest. (Both clinics already mentioned)
Everyone is delighted. Implants at third of the price with excellent care and after care.

Aftercare consists of 6 month checkups. They can always accommodate a weekend. Avg cost £110 including flights hotel and check up.coulnt fault any of it. Top of the range clinics and no language barrier.

As a lawyer, I just wouldn't.
