Pain on sitting.

MegCleary · 19/05/2019 10:53

Been going on a month now. At first it was like tearing pain in bum when I was reaching to lift something. Went to the nurse after 2 weeks and she did a pr and felt nothing, bowels ok. It did change the nature of the pain when she did that now it’s a dull ache all the time when I sit sometimes when standing. Paracetamol of brufen don’t relieve it.
No idea what it is any suggestions/advice.

Bump

Whereabouts is it? Could it be sciatica (in the bum, going down the leg)? My sciatica first started as a shooting pain when I stood up from sitting.

InterchangeableEmma · 19/05/2019 14:54

Do you have a coil fitted? Mine 'shifted' which caused similar symptoms

scattercushion17 · 19/05/2019 14:59

Sacriloc joint or sciatica maybe?

Maybe worth trying to see a physio. They will probably be more intune to this than a doctor or nurse. Hope you get sorted.

MegCleary · 19/05/2019 15:30

No coil, no shooting pain, just a dull ache at all times kind of behind my tail bone. It’s starting to worry me and get me down.

Sciatica? Strange question but do you get pain when coughing? Do you find it difficult to get out of bed or moving from lying down to standing?

MegCleary · 19/05/2019 15:50

No pain on coughing, when it started it was worse on pooing or passing wind. That has changed to this constant dull ache.
I am a bit stiff in the morning but not hard to go from lying to standing.

May be worth seeing a chiropractor to check if your spine or hips are out of line.

chocsaregone · 31/05/2019 10:31

Sounds like my coccyx pain (mine was caused by a fall) go see your GP

Went back to the nurse and she’s done some bloods and wants me to see a gp with the results.

She doesn’t want to do X-rays because of the radiation.
The dull ache persists

Well now my blood results are abnormal, lfts but the receptionist can’t say how wrong. They want another blood test in a month.
I am catastrophising with bowel tumour and liver met.

OP posts:
MegCleary · 04/06/2019 17:02

So I have a raised total protein 89 (normal 82), globulin 44 (normal 35).
A friend mentioned myeloma...
Nerves shattered any advice.
Nurse says do nothing repeat blood test in a month and blames pain on muscle issues. Sigh

Kahlua4me · 04/06/2019 18:08

Can you make an appt to see a gp to go through the blood results and your symptoms?

It may be that it’s okay to wait a month for another blood test but you need reassurance and explanation that waiting is the best course of action as will put your mind at rest.

goose1964 · 05/06/2019 09:19

I have muscle and tendon issues in my groin, it can be agonising but physio to strengthen them helps. I also have serious painkillers for flare ups. I hope you get this sorted soon. From personal experience dioclefanac (spl) is the most effect otc medicine

namechangedforthis1980 · 05/06/2019 09:44

Is there a lump? If so, could be a pilonidal sinus?

MegCleary · 05/06/2019 16:11

Thanks for the replies, no lump I can feel. I am a worrier and usually fit and well. I feel bad going against the practice nurse who I do like, and asking to see the gp. I don’t want to to physio or chiropractor in case I make things worse.

Got everything crossed for you @MegCleary x

Hecateh · 14/06/2019 15:54

If you ask at your surgery for a copy of your blood results they have to give it you. You may have to pay for the print out.
Alternatively ask to register for see your record online. This shows all results so if you have previously had bloods for anything you can compare and see what has changed. It will also hilight any abnormal results so you can check them out - and I would check any that are close to either end of the range too as with some you would be almost dead feel very ill before it goes into abnormal.

MegCleary · 14/06/2019 16:43

I’ve checked and the surgery don’t do online blood results.
I’ve decided to pay for the mri to hopefully be done a bit sooner, when they get the referral.
