Hi all you knowledgable mumsnetters. DD has quite a few warts on her legs. We've been to the doctors a couple of times, and she has been prescribed very strong medicines which make her cry in pain when they are applied. So obviously I decided to no longer apply them. On the last visit I was told that eventually they will just disappear. Any tips or advice on this subject, as she is becoming quite aware of them, and there do seem to be a lot! A few have been knocked when she rides her bike, making them bleed. Help appreciated.

Poor dd . This might sound weird and just an old wives tale, but my exh used to have warts on his hands. One of my work colleagues saw them and suggested he lick them! It seemed worth a try, though he felt very silly - but it worked. Or at any rate, they went away. It's true, warts do disappear eventually, so it could have been coincidence, but it you and dd can face it, you could start her licking...? I think it has to be her saliva. It's supposed to have antibodies.

Sorry if this sounds gross - but it did seem to work.

I had about 40 warts on the backs of my hands when a child, my auntie put witch hazel on every night and they went away. .She swore it worked but as Tanee says it could be an old wives tale and they just cleared up. Didn't do any harm anyway. Best of luck

ok,hot tip for warts and verruccas, apparently they cant survive without air, at least verrucas cant,i beleive its the same for warts. Duct tape is best,if you can stand it and she doesnt peel it off, leave it on for as long as you can making it completely airtight,if it lets in the air, remove and reapply.
see "herewww.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/10/14/health/main525523.shtml"
I used this method on a verruca I'd had for 15 years and it worked. It took a couple of months, buts kids heal quickly, you could find it gone in a couple of weeks.

hope this helps

What about getting that thing from the chemist that burns them off (doesn't hurt). They advertise it on TV all the time.
