Rectogesic

Any experienced fissure people out there? Grin

I was prescribed rectogesic for an anal fissure. I’m prone to them every time I’m stressed and have been since I was a child.

Tried it last night and Jesus wept, what a headache! Felt like my brain was pulsating. The box said to apply 2.5cm of the ointment but I only used about 1cm.

Does anyone know if I can build up from just a teeny smudge on the outside? Any way to prevent headaches?

It’s back to sudocrem I go for now!

Persevere with it, it does fix the fissure.
Lots of water and pain killers if needed.

The headache should get less severe each day, although I'm afraid that doesn't mean it will go away altogether.

The active ingredient is glyceryl trinitrate (nitroglycerine). Its effect on blood vessels was discovered following the observation that munitions workers packing nitroglycerine into artillery shells got severe headaches on Monday mornings that became gradually less severe over the week (but came back on Monday, after the weekend break).

And don't worry: your bum won't explode.

Haha, thanks to both of you!

Honestly, I felt like there was a cucumber up my bottom at first, followed by the brain pulsation.
I will try and be brave and try again soon Blush Interesting about the factory workers!
