Tennis elbow advice

I've had a sore elbow for months at first I thought I'd slept funny. I went to see the ANP yesterday who said I need a steroid injection and prescribed naproxen. I was then told only the gp can give the ok for the injection so now I need to see the gp so they can refer me for the injection, but I can't see the gp for a month, does anyone have any tips to deal with the pain until then? I don't really like taking naproxen it knocks me out as I was told to be careful taking it as I also have diabetes.

In my experience, you’ve just gotta ride the storm with tennis elbow. Deep heat morning, noon and night, rest it as much as you can, and hope for the best. I was told it could last up to 18 months and it did 😕 almost to the day.

If you can bear it, give it a good deep rub when applying pain relief cream, I found it eased off after I’d done that.

Also an elbow support with a little compression thingy (sorry no idea of the technical name) but it’s a little foam tube that you position around the elbow.

Get a splint like this and be sure to wear it at night: www.amazon.co.uk/Actesso-Breathable-Wrist-Support-Splint/dp/B00L4BI41G/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?adgrpid=58686485672&gclid=CjwKCAjw_MnmBRAoEiwAPRRWW4faN_tU4V5S2MH2HRt4yvWvmnJp0Q32XPcN7gg-u6p6RqDRf5P6mBoCgpcQAvD_BwE&hvadid=291356382468&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=1007850&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=b&hvrand=6687380400619972538&hvtargid=kwd-10353951&hydadcr=19167_1752156&keywords=wrist+support&qid=1557347403&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1
When you sleep your hand relaxes and puts extra strain on the elbow. A splint like in the link (which hopefully works!) reduces the strain. Had the same thing myself and was surprised how much the splint helped.

I suffered with tennis elbow off and on for two years. I finally went to see my GP who suggested acupuncture. I was initially sceptical and, if I’m honest, scared at the thought of someone sticking needles into my already painful elbows! However, I tried it and I can honestly say that after just two sessions I could already feel the benefit. By the fourth session my painful elbows had disappeared. I have had two more bouts of tennis elbow but not so bad that I had to have acupuncture but if it does get bad I wouldn’t hesitate to have acupuncture again.
