Unsure what to do after falling

On Saturday night I fell down some outside steps. They were metal and it had been raining. I have a graze on my knee and ankle.

I have had very little sleep since due to the pain. Pain that is making me feel very sick. BUT there is no swelling or bruising, and although I have a slight limp I am walking on the leg.

I've tried to attach a picture. I just don't know if it should be checked, as there is no swelling or bruising, but then there is pain. If I should be checked, minor injuries or a&e? I really do not want to be wasting anyone's time.

Thank you. And if you recognise me then 🤫

At least OP followed NHS advice of finding out if there was an alternative (be it GP, 111 or pharmacy) before just showing up at A&E uninformed. It was the right and advised course of action and now she can be there confident she's not potentially wasting her time.

You can be as sarcastic and rude as you like to me, but given that I am on a health forum simply stating what the NHS guidelines are, then I can only surmise that your issue is with the NHS guidelines themselves, in which case by all means bitch at them instead of random people on the internet that are trying to give genuine help. She could well be in the same city as me or many similar in which case there are dozens of options to avoid A&E. I didn't know, she didn't know herself, so I advised to check.

Some people just get their kicks trying to pick a pointless argument, so if that's what floats your boat then crack on. I hope the links I've shared help others, at least, and that OP is better soon.

You're still going on, the OP followed your advice and was deemed worthy of a&e. Job done Wink

Justonemorepancake · 08/05/2019 15:32

Exactly! So drop the sarcasm!

NCforleg · 08/05/2019 16:46

I'm back with cocodamol and a good support. Need to go back in 10 days, I have ligament and soft tissue damage in my knee, ankle seems ok just took some impact on the fall, he said watch for hip pain too.

I've also a list of things that mean I need to go straight back.

Ah no wonder it's hurting OP. Hopefully you'll be on the mend soon. Hopefully you'll be more comfortable now it's strapped up. Flowers

Exactly! So drop the sarcasm!

Bossy bugger you aren't you? Grin

I still stand by my original point. It was always going to end up in a&e so why fuck about going to other places first? If you don't like it then meh... I'm not responsible for your feelings. If I possibly break a leg or an arm then I'm not going to to hobble about getting opinions on whether to go to a&e or not because I know exactly what they will say.

SoupDragon · 08/05/2019 19:51

I hope it doesn't take too long to feel better, OP!

NCforleg · 08/05/2019 23:54

Thanks @SoupDragon. And @gamerchick thank you too, and everyone who offered advice. Good job I have a thick skin Grin. Good job I didn't post in AIBU!

I may be a little high on cocodamol but should sleep better at least.

No sure why you need a thick skin OP!

I'm the only one who has been attacked and insulted by gamerchick on this thread because she's refusing to see that I'm just sharing NHS advice. Instead of stating she believes NHS are wrong she prefers to personally attack me, being sarcastic, calling me bossy and other names... It's childish and I should rise above but it's really upset me actually. Fuck mumsnet vipers and the people that stand by and get entertainment from it. I'm not on AIBU and I shouldn't be attacked on a health forum for sharing NHS guidelines.

I'm glad your leg is OK OP and nothing broken. Best of luck to you.

TerribleTwosPhase · 09/05/2019 20:55

Hope you feel better soon op, ligament damage is very painful Flowers

gamerchick · 09/05/2019 21:05

Ah man, I wasn't trying to upset you and I understand what you were doing. But as an old hand of a variety of injuries I pretty much know what these various places will say for this type of injury. It's just a saving time thing.

Don't dwell on it, I'm just a random on the internet.

Hope you're on the mend OP.

Swelling has really come out today and my heel is burning.

Excuse my hairy knees.
