Yucky nipple discharge

This might sound rather revolting but....here goes -
When in the shower I have noticed black/brown bobbles of discharge coming out of the dusts of both nipples when squeezed, along with other more creamy coloured ones.
I asked the doctor who said that if had been from just one nipple it would be down to blocked ducts, but as it was both, he didn't know - this was a few months ago and it's still happening
The last time I breastfed was 5 yrs ago.
Anyone out there with any ideas of what it could be??

Did it just start a few months ago, or has it been ever since bf'ing? I think a bit of 'waxy' stuff at the ends of the ducts is pretty normal, but discharge might indicate something that needs clearing up.
I would say go back to a different doc, as such delicate bits of equipment should be looked after and 'I don't know' is not a very satisfactory answer!

Sorry bobs I don't know, but is your GP totally useless or is it that he didn't know now but would find out?! Or even refer you to someone who does?

Hope someone more useful comes along soon!

Thanks Twiglett - hadn't seen that particular website, but it does say that black discharge is normal - esp for smokers (whoops!)
I've only noticed it in the past few months and the doc did give me a thorough examination - just suggested it could be a slight infection that would probably clear up. It only happens when I squeeze!! And I'm not on any medication which could have been a cause.
I was hoping someone else might have had the same thing - will bump tomorrow.
Thanks

I have to say that I am appalled. If this was in the usa, your gp would have had you off for a mammogram before you could sneeze. It really seems a little foolish to "wait and see." I'm sorry to be scaremongering, but I would insist on seeing a consultant asap.
