Where is the fuse box ??? It's tripped the fuse thats all. You just need to flick it back on.

Agree with nutcracker - happens to us all the time. Well, when a bulb goes.

Aitch · 17/07/2007 22:10

agree with nutcracker, it's just tripped the fuse. go and find the box and flip it back up.

MadEyeMisdee · 17/07/2007 22:10

fine your fuse box and flick it back on. blown bulb will not light up. then switch off the bulb that has gone, remove bulb and replace with new one. switch it back on.

nutcracker · 17/07/2007 22:14

Oh, if the bulb exploded, be careful when you get the bit out that is left inside the light fitment.

MarieCeleste · 17/07/2007 22:16

sorry to be so pathetic - have done that, but still no lights downstairs - I dont mind as long as its not dangerous for ds who is first up in AM.

Have swept up glass well

it's not dangerous is it?

why isn't the fuse box thing working?

OP posts:
MadEyeMisdee · 17/07/2007 22:19

keep the fuse box off, then try and remove the last of the fitment of the buld from the light. it could be tripping it out.

HAve you flicked all the fuses back up and then put main switch on?

nutcracker · 17/07/2007 22:20

Hmmm not sure what to suggest then. Mine always comes back on once i flick the switch in the fuse box.

I'd leave it alone until the morning when you can get a better look.

Oh and you are not pathetic, I nearly cried AND had to ask for advice on MN the first time I had to change lightbulbs after xp moved out

MarieCeleste · 17/07/2007 22:25

I cant actually do that. If safe I will go to bed. My dad is vvvv ill and I'm in a complete state anyway, I even drove thru a red light today, not good.

Thanks for all your help, will try again int he AM. Thanks.

Good point Aitch.

You normally have seperate sckets for downstairs lights & downstairs sockets. I am assumng sockets are working as you are online - or are you on laptop?

MarieCeleste · 17/07/2007 22:32

yes laptop. sockets Ok

JodieG1 · 17/07/2007 22:32

The fuse could need changing in the fusebox, do you have spare ones? If so pull old one out and replace with new one. Easily done.

SlightlyMadSpider · 17/07/2007 22:32

What about kitchen light/hall light - another downstairs light. Are they working?

MarieCeleste · 17/07/2007 22:32

OP posts:
MarieCeleste · 17/07/2007 22:33

SlightlyMadSpider · 17/07/2007 22:33

Do you have a traditional fuse box - or one with trip switches?
