Diesel generator beside my house!!

Hi everyone,
A few months ago an industrial diesel generator was placed about 1 or 2 meters from my home to power some temporary offices. This generator starts at 6.30am until around 5/6.30pm. I'm just wondering is there guidelines or laws to follow regarding it being so close to my house? When it is on my whole house smells of the fumes and over the past 3 weeks I have had a very corse throat, that has now developed into a chest infection. I sleep downstairs due to a disability and I can not sleep in my room as this is inline with the exhaust and I can't breathe in there.
Sorry for the long post I'm just at my whitts end and don't know how to solve this.

Phone your Council and speak to the environmental department.

Sounds awful do you.

For you

I have sent them an email tonight. It's just horrible, the smell and the fumes. There has to be some kind of law. I feel like it's basically poisoning me (not to be over dramatic) 😂😂

You have physical symptoms/ailments that coincide with it being there so you are not being dramatic at all.

I imagine these sort of emissions are subject to planning permission.

That's what I thought. But I'm not even exaggerating about it being 1/2 meters away from my house. Surely it can't be right 😩 I'm going to ring the council tomorrow. As well as sending them and email.

This is all above my head but you might find it useful

And this looks good

Every gallon of diesel fuel contains 2,778 grams of pure carbon. Every gram of atomic carbon, when oxidized with oxygen, forms 3.666 grams of carbon dioxide. (This is another way of saying that each molecule of CO2 weighs 3.66 times more than an atom of carbon alone.)
In an average liquid hydrocarbon-burning engine, it can be assumed that about 99 percent of the fuel will oxidize. (It is assumed that somewhat less than 1 percent will fail to fully oxidize, and will be emitted as particulates or unburned hydrocarbons instead of CO2).
Therefore, we can multiply the amount of carbon per gallon of diesel by the ratio of carbon weight to CO2 weight by 99 percent.
2,778 g x 3.66 x 0.99 = 10,084 g.

Each gallon of diesel fuel produces, on average, 10,084 g of CO2, or about 22.2 lb.
So if your diesel generator uses, for example, 15 gallons of diesel fuel per hour, it'll be producing:
15 gallons/hour x 22.2 lb./gallon = 333 lb.

You’re welcome.

I’m glad they are taking it seriously.

I hope you get it sorted. Please update when the council have been.

Hope the council sort it out, I'm amazed it's been allowed to go on for so long.
