Menopause, what over the counter remedies help you? Actually, what helps in general?

I've been having the hot flushes and irregular/no periods on and off for about 2 yrs. I don't know if it's this but I am really tired all the time. Last week I have felt really fed up and had a very 'irrational' couple of days where trivial things sent me into a meltdown.

I really am not sure how much the tiredness etc is down to hormones or just life in general. I work part time in a very frustrating office where communication is shit and it makes the job much more confusing than it should be. I also have 2 teens that keep me busy and seem to make more mess than toddlers so I either feel like I am constantly cleaning up or asking them to pull their fingers out. I find the constant 'extra load' very draining eg just recently I had to 'nag' DS1 (18) to sort out a much needed prescription for himself and book a dental check up ( he is under a dental specialist currently ). Being a teenage boy I know that if left to his own devices pretty much NOTHING would get done (unless it involves football in some way shape or form).

Crikey I am waffling now..anyhow thinking I should seek some help from G P but wonder what helps/has helped you good and wise MNs?

Thanks

Sage complex supplements from Victoria health. Magic little pills!

This video is very informative actually. It's the owner of Victoria health talking about menopause and he's incredibly knowledgeable.

Get on HRT, asap. It's ridiculous and totally unnecessary to suffer like this.

allypally999 · 02/05/2019 08:51

Sage helped me for a couple of years and then HRT for 5. Not sure if its slightly better or I have just gotten used to it but still flushes and night sweats here (amongst other things!). Get something to try - we are all different but you will find something helpful I'm sure

HRT in general, (it worked really quickly for me) but make an appointment with your GP to get your bloods done & thyroid, B12, blood sugar and iron levels checked at the same time to check that the overall tiredness isn't down to something else as well.

My surgery here in Scotland does all this when they do the blood test to check that you are in the menopause before prescribing HRT - not sure what happens in England as we moved up here 5 years ago now.

HRT. Felt better within three days. Had teenagers. Why suffer when you don't have to.
