Reaction to deep heat?

I have bad knees. Bilateral baker's cysts and tendinitis and possibly arthritis, not to mention deviated kneecaps 😩Yesterday my usual combo of painkillers hadn't helped it so I sprayed it liberally with deep heat spray. I've just noticed the below redness. It's hot to the touch too. Has anyone else had this?

Reaction to deep heat?

Yeah, I sprayed it on my back, and it burned like hell. Didn't have a problem with the cream though.

Yes, DH had it in response to the roll on. You could see where it had been applied. It should settle down again quickly but some hydrocortisone cream may help.

It'll go, too much deep heat can do that.

Have you tried the ibuprofen gel instead? That might be more effective.

BoundByBriars · 28/04/2019 11:21

Yep, I reacted like this. It was awfully burny/painful. I thought my skin was going to peel off!

Never touched it since!

dementedpixie · 28/04/2019 11:22

Deep heat also make my skin go an angry red colour

I'd had ibuprofen gel, paracetamol and dihydrocodeine and they hadn't helped. I can't take nsaids due to gastritis and asthma.
