Baby bump, 3 years on...

Bingcankissmyass · 21/04/2019 12:49

(Quick back story) have three dc 15, 12 and 3 and still look pregnant. Have previously been asked when baby is due, how far along I am, and you've not had it yet from dh colleagues and even the lady in the chemist 😮 size 18 round the 'bump' size 14 up top, seem to balloon even more at the slightest sniff of food. Diagnosed with t2 diabetes 2 yrs ago so diet changed, more exercise etc. I'm ready to accept that I am just a larger lady and theres no medical reason for the bump, but would also like to know if there is a medical reason and what to do about it! Hopefully the picture I've attached has worked!

Have you been to your GP @Bingcankissmyass about this? It could be any number of things but if you hadn't already explained that you're not actually pregnant then I would have thought by the picture that you're at about 5 months gestation! You're not a 'larger lady' either as a size 14 is pretty standard in the UK. GP will initially do blood tests and will ask questions such as have you lost or gained noticeable weight within the last 6 months, do you feel generally well or fatigued and lacking in energy, do you have regular changes in bowel habits etc, you could have an allergy to a certain food for example so may be asked to keep a food diary for at least 2 weeks. Another thing could be your stomach muscles from pregnancy may still be separated (otherwise known as Diastasis recti) causing your abdomen to stick out. Your lower abdomen looks quite distended so to rule out an ovarian cyst which can be very large, then an ultrasound should be recommended too. Stand in front of the mirror and see if your abdomen is more swollen on one side more then the other. Also, another symptom of ovarian cysts can be pain on one side and frequent urination due to compression on the bladder and sometimes frequent diarrhoea too. None of these suggestions are to alarm you but this needs checking out so I would say if you haven't already made an appointment then please do so. HTP and please update us.

You definitely need to see your GP again.

Ginger1982 · 21/04/2019 21:16

Oh goodness, please go and get seen. I had a very large ovarian cyst as a teenager and looked pregnant.

Butterfly98 · 21/04/2019 21:28

Like the previous posters have you really do need to get this checked out ASAP

BiscuitDrama · 21/04/2019 21:31

Was it the same size when you were diagnosed with diabetes? Just wondering if a dr has seen it at all?

Gruzinkerbell1 · 21/04/2019 21:34

Please do go to your GP

youarenotkiddingme · 21/04/2019 21:51

Yep a GP.

That doesn't look like excess fat but rather fluid/ bloat or something.

anomoony · 21/04/2019 21:54

You need to get that looked at very soon. You might have an ovarian issue.

Bingcankissmyass · 21/04/2019 22:35

@GreenSalad5 i saw my gp once, was advised to cut out dairy for a few weeks and see if it helped (it didnt!) When I went back she just kinda told me to exercise more 🤦‍♀️ but thanks to you all Flowers, I shall be making a go appointment on Tuesday!

Bingcankissmyass · 21/04/2019 23:00

@IVEgottheDECAF it's ridiculous isn't it, I wont even have a little mewling newborn at the end 😥 my husband hasnt seen me naked for a while, so the isn't even a snifter of another dc! Congrats Flowers on dc5, you're a brave, brave woman!

Don't be fobbed off by your doctor about cutting out certain food as you've tried that already, if you're not happy get a second opinion

anomoony · 21/04/2019 23:20

I would ask for an ultrasound in any case. Don't let them let you leave without proper tests.

3luckystars · 21/04/2019 23:23

Is it like that all the time??? If not then take the photo with you to the gp next Tuesday.

bunnieboo91 · 21/04/2019 23:26

@Ginger1982 Yeah what Ginger said. My mum looked very pregnant and turned out she had a overian cyst. Don't freak out though because most of the time they're harmless and easy to remove.

Northernlurker · 21/04/2019 23:29

You need your gynae systems thoroughly checking out op. Don't leave the go without referrals

Ginger1982 · 22/04/2019 02:22

OP, my GP also took one look at me and told me to exercise. Turns out she missed my cyst that ended up weighing 18lbs and costing me an ovary. Definitely push for a second opinion if you don't get anywhere. That's not normal.

Shostakobitch · 22/04/2019 08:04

Has your abdomen been consistently this swollen OP? Or does it come and go?

Bingcankissmyass · 22/04/2019 10:41

@Shostakobitch it's pretty much always like this, sometimes gets a little bigger when I eat but it never seems to get smaller than this 😖

HJWT · 22/04/2019 12:50

@Bingcankissmyass have you tried to lose a good amount of weight? I know this probably wont help but if you lost around a stone and took another pic you could show your GP its not weight its a 'bump' xx

Shostakobitch · 22/04/2019 14:20

I would be really surprised if a GP said this was excess weight, good luck getting an appointment and some answers OP

GreenSalad5 · 26/04/2019 16:55

Hi @bingcankissmyass did you manage to get an appointment with your GP yet?

FingersXssd83 · 03/05/2019 20:46

Definitely go to the doctors hun. Need to get that checked out, could be to do with your ovaries xx
