please.

dh has had a suspected mini stroke again.

however, its been over 24hrs, and his memory and confused state is not improving, last time it did improve within 24hours.

Does anyone know if this points towards a bigger proble, but i guyess its too early to say.

i feel useless, and very scared.

thinking of you,and praying things get betterx

Slubberdegullion · 13/07/2007 21:53

, so sorry to hear this. Has he been seen by a neurologist?

Bubble99 · 13/07/2007 21:54

Has his speech been affected, misdee?

snowwonder · 13/07/2007 21:57

has he any weakness in movements eg arms?
or is it the memory only that is affected?

wishing you all the very best wishes

MadEyeMisdee · 13/07/2007 21:59

no speech isnt slurred this time, some small weakness dfown one side, has pins and needles on his right side. has had a CAT scan. not seen neuro yet i dont think (but he cant remember so he may have done).

I have had 7 texts off him this evening asking me for his phone carger to be taken in tomorrow.

last hnight he kept calling me to ask if he had taken his medication.

This morning, i watched him take oxynorm, and he asked me repeatadly if he had taken it for over 2hours.

its very worrying.

A quick summary if this helps

TIA - mini stroke, defined by the fact it resolves within 24 hours

RIND - still a 'mini stroke' but symptoms resolve within a week

CVA - full on stroke with longer term recovery.

Still a chance his symptoms will resolve soon. HTH and he improves soon

Slubberdegullion · 13/07/2007 22:04

God, so worrying for you.

It's been such a long time since I did any neuro (physio), so I can't really help with regards to TIA recovery, and how long it takes.

Love and prayers to you all.

MadEyeMisdee · 13/07/2007 22:05

its been over 24hours, build up was gradual, not as instant change as last one.

OP posts:
blondehelen · 13/07/2007 22:08

is he on warfarin?

MadEyeMisdee · 13/07/2007 22:09

yes. and aspirin is being started as well.

he is on an artificial heart and is waiting for a heart transplant.

Bubble99 · 13/07/2007 22:12

Infection? Electrolytes out of whack?

blondehelen · 13/07/2007 22:15

I have been following your story. With warfarin it could be a bleed. My understanding is a TIA is a clot. Is there anyway of finding out the CT results to put your mind at rest and out of limbo land? It could still resolve with it being over 24 hours. HTH

MadEyeMisdee · 13/07/2007 22:17

CAT results hopefully on monday.

i am hoping it can be resolved. its very wrrying seeing him like this

misdee

I hope it settles down and turns out to be another minor episode.

blondehelen · 13/07/2007 22:19

Hope things improve over the weekend It still can resolve. I have seen it!

blondehelen · 13/07/2007 22:20

IME if there is something major/urgent on CT scan the radiologist normally writes in the notes

MadEyeMisdee · 13/07/2007 22:21

i wasnt trhere when the scan was done, will gethis mum to check tomorrow, and will ask on sunday if no joy then.

as you know my Dh has memory loss, i really feel for you and hope that the short term memory loss is short term.
could the memory loss/confusion be down to meds?

MadEyeMisdee · 13/07/2007 22:23

i was wondering if its possible his potassium levels are down. bloods weere taken yesterday and today, am guessing they checked all that
