A safe has dropped on my head, yes really

Opened the wardrobe, crouched down to reach in to the back and the little safe box on the top shelf fell onto my head. I feel like Wiley coyote!

I screamed and fell over, but don't think I blacked out. DH has made me lie down and I have a slight headache and have taken paracetamol. Do I need to do anything else? He's just weighed it and it's 1st 2lbs.

Just picturing the OP explaining this to the triage nurse.

Have you told them about the nausea?

If not, tell them now. If you have already, get your companion to go and tell them again.

Sounds like you're in for a long night, hope you feel better soon

In the last 5 minutes Iv read two threads one that someone had a safe fall on them (you) and on another thread someone called 111 because a lion bit them! It's like mn's gone crazy!

I'm sure you'll be fine john but I'm glad your getting checked.

Thanks everyone. I've been in and out and now on way home. Sore head and neck, but no sign of any serious damage, apparently not even a decent lump. So I must have the skull of a Labrador or something (I once got whiplash from headbutting my Labrador, but that's another story).

A large ceramic chicken fell on my head once in Harvester. Was bloody heavy and smashed on impact. It had been on a shelf but wasn't glued down and somebody must have knocked the other side of the wall where I was sitting. The manager just laughed when we told him. Didn't even get money off our meal. Fuckers.

Glad you are ok OP.

How did they examine you exactly? That seems awfully quick!

Ouch! That sounds painful OP, hopefully it's nothing bad and you just get checked over. Thanks

I'm thinking of going to GP tomorrow as I fell off a slippery tree trunk on Sunday (yes really!) and hit the bottom of my hip, I have had pain in my back and arm ever since but no bruising Confused (serves me right for playing around on a slippery tree trunk like a child)Grin

Just be careful when out and about in case somebody is transporting a piano or anvil to the 5th floor of a block of flats.

And go back to A&E if you start seeing lanky blue birds.

Squeaky she felt my skull, pressed down my neck, looked in my ears and mouth, shone a light in my eyes and got me to follow her pen and do some coordination test type things with my fingers and hands. And that was it. DH thinks I should have had a brain scan, but since I wasn't sick and there is no sign of swelling I guess it's not necessary (and too expensive!)

I was thinking about scans etc too but I think he seems to have been quite thorough still. Do go back if you feel worse or your symptoms change

@SnapesGreasyHair it was a joke relating to the OPs reference of a common cartoon. Please do not start pushing any head lumps Hmm

@JohnWolfenstein A&E are a joke when it comes to head injury! My DH passed out with Flu and smashed his head of the toilet, he was out for 15 MINUTES!!! He was still out of it when the ambulance got there!!! And they didn't even scan his head 🥴🥴🥴

PoppyD93x · 11/04/2019 21:17

Cant believe they didnt even do a quick ct scan! Please keep an eye on your symptoms. Again this is from someone else whos had a bleed on the brain.

No lump is a bad thing for head injuries. Ds3 fell onto his head and had a bruise, turned out to be internal bleeding. A bump is a good thing apparently.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 11/04/2019 21:25

DS1(25) banged his head 4 months ago (fell off a chair). Had 6 weeks off work and is still not quite right.

Take care OP and go back if you have more symptoms.

If you have an egg shaped bump you need to push it back in.
Errrrr....why?

Because that it the best treatment as recommended by Roadrunner.

Glad to hear you're okay, OP!

I once fell down a full flight of stairs and landed head first on a stone floor - my only injury was a small graze. Some people have very hard heads.
