I think that Bio-oil is supposed to be pretty good.

I have been meaning to ask this question as well - you beat me to it . I have started using Dermalogica products which seem to be working really well, (not sure if they are dearer than Liz Earle but cost me £60 for cleanser, moisturiser and clearing gel!!). This of course is only for the actual spots, I would rather get rid of the scarring and put up with the occasional spots if I had the choice.

I was wondering if anybody had had a skin peel or laser treatment/dermabrasion on here as I would do anything to even out the skin tone? Look forward to reading anybody's advice

Another vote for bio-oil!

Helenback · 13/07/2007 14:21

I went for facials when I was pregnant. The beautician wouldn't do dermabrasion in early pregnancy but did later on. My skin actually got better after the first trimester. I also went for acupuncture which was great and also helped my skin. I read somewhere you shouldn't use salicylic acid when you are pregnant, this is in lots of skin lotions for acne prone skin.

Ooh good, (sorry Cedar, don't mean to take over, just looking forward to buying something that might actually help).

Scootergrrrl - did you use the bio-oil yourself?, did it make a visible difference, did the oil not make your spots worse?? How long before you noticed any improvement? Can you tell I'm excited???

Maybe Cedar and I could both do a live trial, you know, start it at the same time and report back the results, ., (Don't think I'd inflict photo's on anyone though, ).

Scootergrrrl · 13/07/2007 14:28

It didn't make spots worse - I think mine got worse as I used stronger stuff and my skin was all "ARRRGGHH what's going on here" (32 is too old for Clearsil - it's like paint stripper!)
I used to exfoliate gently then put the oil on before bed and it really made a difference. It's also good for stretch-marks.
If you've got loads of cash, the Estee Lauder intensive repair serum stuff is supposed to be good [http://www.esteelauder.com/templates/products/sp_nonshaded.tmpl?ngextredir=1&CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY58 60&PRODUCT_ID=PROD1928 this stuff]

Now that's a good link - try again here

I'm a big fan of DIY dermabrasion. I currently use No.7 Total Renewal & the renowned Protect & Perfect Serum. It does make a big difference.

Before that I used Dermalogica products which are also great.

I think regular facials & laser treatment (by a beautician) really help. I used to have them before I had dcs.

I've stopped using foundation as I think it makes my skin look worse. I just use one of those self-tanning moisturisers every other day.

Helennn · 13/07/2007 16:47

Castlesintheair, thanks for that - I shall try the Total Renewal and the protect and perfect serum, (always been out of stock so far). I do have regular facials but would be interested in what sort of laser treatment you had, was this done at a regular beauty therapists, or was it more of a cosmetic surgery type procedure? I would be prepared to pay if I thought it was going to make a significant difference.

Scootergrrrl, unfortunately I am "not authorised to view this page" at Estee Lauder, and cannot find the product elsewhere so I think it may not exist anymore, although looking at the prices of some of their products it may be just as well, (£120 for a bottle anyone!).

Cedar12, I hope you are still there - are you going to try anything different?

LUCYMARIE · 13/07/2007 17:02

Body Shop do a great Vitamin E oil thats great for scarring

cedar12 · 15/07/2007 12:47

Thanks for all the info everyone like the idea of a live trial for the bio oil. Bought some bio oil yesterday used it last night, it very soothing on the skin which is nice. I better stick with the liz earle stuff for cleansing etc. I might try the skin clearing gel did it really help clear up the spots? I am in the 2 nd half of my cycle at present and my skin isnt great. Not to many spots but the ones I have got are really sore. Where did you get the skin clearing gel from Helennn it sound great I had a look in john lewis but could find it.
