Vaseline onto grazed knee?

I had a fall last week and scraped my knee the size of a 50p. I have dressed it when going out but it sticks to the wound and then tears it open again when I take the dressing off when I get back home. I have left it to the air as much ad I can but seem to beer in a vicious circle of it healing a bit and then opening up again. I just googled and it said a lot of people put vasilene on a wound while it is healing as this is is better than letting it dry out - has anyone tried it and knows if it works better that way?

Buy a hydrocolloid plaster (sometimes says faster healing dressing). You leave it on for a few days and it promotes wet healing

Currently working in Dermatology - we smear all wounds in Vaseline, apparently they heal better.

Defo Vaseline!

Same thing happened to me!

I have been using plasters, with no issues when taking them off at all. I used Elastoplast knee plasters at the start, which came off in the shower so no need to force it off, meaning no disruption to the wound. I was also using Savlon advanced healing gel (which is similar to vaseline in that it promotes moist wound healing) so my graze never scabbed over.

I have switched over to faster healing plasters now. My graze has mostly healed so I’m focusing on scar prevention right now.

If the faster healing plasters are the ones with latex or iodine, I would not recommend them. I was given something similar and it caused an anaphylactic shock.

I have recently had an operation and I was advised to put Vaseline on the wound to help it heal. Someone also said it makes stitches removal less painful, I don’t know how true that is.

No I don't think they have latex or iodine in them. Doesn't mention either of them on the packet
