Another thread about thyroid tests (sorry!)

I'm so sorry to request the help of all you clever MNers but I've tried to do an AS for answers and I'm more confused than when I started.

I've put on weight (but that could be to do with my love of chocolate)
I'm tired (work full-time with 4 children, of course I'm tired Hmm)
My hair is dry for the first time ever and about 18 months ago I noticed that loads of it falls out. Like post pregnancy amounts. Sink blocking amounts)
I'm cold (quite possibly because I'm tired or my DH is tight with the heating)

Now to my results...
TSH 0.72
Free T4 10.2
Thyroid peroxidase Ab 1.1

All within normal range according to the print out but what's wrong with me? Anaemia? My Ferritin's 21 so normal too.

I want my hair back [sob]

Vit d or b12 maybe?

OvertheInfluence · 08/04/2019 18:15

Hmm...my vit d was low last year so I supplemented. Annoyingly that wasn't rechecked.

My b12 was 209 so low normal.

I just seem to be on the normal-low threshold of lots of things really Confused

Would be helpful to know the lab ranges for those results. How old are you? Some of this could be perimenopause or similar.
I suspect 21 is quite close to the bottom of the range so I'd start by supplementing iron. You may not be technically anaemic but some people feel unwell and have symptoms even when just in range.

OvertheInfluence · 08/04/2019 20:03

I was just scrolling through Active Threads, saw this title and thought "Ooh, someone else asking about thyroid", then realised it was me Hmm Grin

Ferritin range: 14-300 so 21 is super close isn't it?
B12 range was 140-900 so again my 209 is low and there's a note saying to consider treatment if other evidence of deficiency.

So I'll just get some supplements myself, theres no harm in doing that really.

I was just confused that I tested positive for the thyroid peroxide (1.1). They don't treat until it's over 9 but I don't know how common it is to show this enzyme in your blood. Is it a strong indicator for future probs or does everyone have some floating around in their blood??

Sooo confusing!

Thank you both for taking the time, I'm feeling quite low about it all (I'm doing that a lot too at the moment, very flat).

It's that thing of not feeling right but not being wrong enough for action!
