I snore...

For the last couple of years or so my husband has been teasing me about my snoring. However, it seems that I have gone from light snoring (Which he used to find funny) to much heavier, disruptive snoring. Last night, he woke me up to say he couldn't sleep and had an early start so I went to the spare room feeling quite upset (not at him, though).

I know that sleeping with a snoring partner can be a nightmare. What can I do to stop? Does anything work? I've decided I'll move into the spare room, at least temporarily, because it's just not fair on him. I'm so embarrassed about the whole thing. He tells me not to be silly, but I think it's the right way forward.

Please help!

Well going to another room is a kind thing to do. So many people are selfish and expect their partners to put up with it. Flowers

Tbh I would skip the home remedies and go straight to the GP for a referral to the sleep clinic. Be proactive about it.

Thanks. Is a referral to the sleep clinic really the only way forward? I imagine there will be a long waiting list and things will drag for ages. I thought there might be something else I could try first, or realistically nothing works?

Well there's only one way to find out.

The husband spent a fortune on over the counter stuff before giving in. He doesn't snore anymore.

There's the usual, dont drink, don't smoke and lose weight if you need too.

Thanks. I don't drink, smoke and my BMI is bng in the middle of normal. It just seems that my nose gets blocked when I lie down - I feel I can't sleep as well as I used to in the past for that reason.

A couple of years ago I had an ENT referral for suspected cancer (luckily the results she were clear) and I had a camera up my nose too many times... nothing was found, including no polyps. I have no idea what's causing the lining of my nose to swell up - or whatever it is.

Could be dust mites, we all have them. It might be worth looking at the mattress covers/pillows and keeping the bedroom as dust free as possible. It's the poop that blocks our noses up.

Keeping the bedroom cool as well as the heat does the same thing.

Gamer chick, I'd never thought of dust mites. I guess my bedroom is not always dust-free, to put it mildly! I will try hoovering more regularly, changing the bedclothes every couple of days or so, and see if hat makes a difference. Thanks.
