What should I do? It's right by his left front tooth and the tooth looks a bit smaller than the other one, as if it has been depressed. I was RIGHT there and he just stood up and lost his footing, off the rubber mat.
He insisted on havign his bottle and it seems to have stopped bleeding now. Should I take him to the DR? It's 1900 here. He's toddling around. My bloody husband is away too. Why does this always happen when they are away? Advice needed PLEASE!

TBH if it has stopped bleeding and he seems happy I wouldn't worry, possibly arrange a check up with the dentist but I'm not sure they would do anything other than reassure you. Take care

I agree with clairabelle. If it has stopped bleeding and he is back to his normal self, I wouldn't worry either. Sometimes I will give my dd some ice chips, just to make sure that there isn't any swelling.

Sympathies, these things always happen when they are away. If he isn't in any pain, it has stopped bleeding and the tooth itself isn't wobbly I would have thought you could wait until the morning to head for a dentist. Is there an out of hours advice line whih could reassure you whether it is ok to leave it until then ?

if it's of any consolation when dd was 18m, i wa sin bed after a night shift and dh came in to ask me how long their baby teeth were supposed to last. When I replied about 7 years he went very pale as he and dd had been rolling around on the floor and she had knocked her tooth resulted in apart breaking off, she looked like Dracula for about a month until it ended up rounding itself off. Looks perfect now. BIL is a dentist and he said nothing to worry about.

Thanks so much for your quick replies. I have nearly stopped shaking, it was the ititial mouthful of blood that freaked me out.
He nearly finished his bottle, which I stuck some baby neurofen in and didn't object to bonjela on the site. No luck with ice though.
I managed to have a look and there is a split next to the tooth, (he only has 4) but it's not too bad. He's gone to sleep now (half an hour past his bed time, bad day) so I will try to calm down and take him to the dr tomorrow am.
Husband not answering mobile, I think he's on a river cruise with work. Grrr.

Thanks again!

Awww, poor you, and poor ds! For what it's worth, I believe that mouth injuries tend to bleed more (but aren't necessarily dangerous --- they LOOK that way though with all the blood) because there are more blood vessels in the mouth. I might be wrong about that, but I think I read that somewhere....
