Please help - sore, burning, swollen vagina

Ok, this is quite embarrassing but for the past week or so the inside of my vagina has got progressively more sore, it feels like it is burning inside. My labia seem to be red and swollen. I have normal discharge and no smell. I looked inside and there do seem to be some soft lumps at the entrance but I am assuming these are not connected to the burning as that feels like it is more at the back of the vagina.

I feel a bit dryer than normal down below over the past year or so but have normal, regular periods, a high sex drive and normally produce enough natural lubrication so I am not sure if this could be hormonal/perimenopausal. I am 44.

When I pee it feels hot but doesn't really sting.

I have done a course of BV treatment from Boots as I originally thought it was this but it seemed to make it worse. I have last night done a Canesten pessary and thrush treatment and this seemed to help a bit but now the burning is back.

I cannot get a GP appointment for weeks and when I call to get an appointment on the day they are always already taken.

Does anyone have a clue what this could be? I am in agony!

I got scented tampax once in error and was in agony after a couple of hours.
I hope you get to the bottom of it soon OP.

There are SCENTED TAMPONS ? Lord above why ? The scented towels are bad enough, dh once bought me a pack on holiday, as they were all the shop had, and I used tissue for a night rather than use them , the scent was so strong you could smell the unopened packet across the room. Ugggh.

Try a simple greasy skin cream or Vaseline. Works for me.

Not sure if anybody is interested in this update but the pain got steadily worse and after numerous visits to the GUM clinic, GP, A&E and swabs coming back negative for thrush, BV and all sexually transmitted diseases I went back to A&E in absolute agony and was scanned to reveal I have a haemorrhagic cyst on my ovary which seemed to have transferred the pain into my vagina (this is the only explanation I have of the original burning pain in my vagina). I had been put on two antibiotics before my swab results came back because my GP thought I had PID. The antibiotics were very strong and made me feel extremely sick, anyway, I am pleased I finally have an answer. Told that the cyst normally shrinks on it's own and to take painkillers for the pain.

OP I recommend GUM clinic . I couldn’t get a GP either and went there and got diagnosed immediately

Google the nearest GUM clinic they are often attached to a hospital

Ps what I thought I had , wasn’t what I had ! Hence the need to get tested

Oops like like you did go and finally got a diagnosis Xx
