another eczema question - eczema and sun-beds!

I have, at the ripe old age of 41, developed eczema and am trying all sorts of treatments, including herbal, aromatherapy, hydrocortisone, dietary etc but nothing seems to be working. A fellow eczema sufferer told me recently that her friend who suffered badly from the same was recommended a course of sun-beds. And it worked! His eczema is tons better! Anyone else heard of this? And is it worth the skin-cancer risk?

ime my eczema got worse with sun and sunbeds, the heat really aggravated it!

Fwiw I can't speak highly enough of chinese herbs. I developed eczema in adulthood and tried everything but it got worse until I was covered neck to toe, i'm not kidding. I was recommended a very good clinic in Hove and had a course of chinese herbs that I had to brew up and drink daily. I went back fortnightly until after just 2 months it was completely gone.

It was expensive - about £60 - £70 a fortnight but I would say beg, steal or borrow if you need to as it was so worth it!
If you decide to do this btw, choose the herbalist carefully - there are so many around these days I'm sure there are a few who are a bit dubious. These herbs can cause kidney problems (i think) and they should monitor this at every visit.
HTH

thanks! lots of people have told me it could have been brought on/ aggrevated by stress - my life is very stressful at the moment. I'm currently using moisturisor from head to toe - one of the ones with no perfumes, colours etc- which is helping. Its such a pain isn't it!

mine was definately stress related. make sure the moisturiser you use does not contain lanolin, which is wool based and aggravates eczema. also try to wear natural fabrics like 100% cotton or silk next to the affected areas and make sure the fabric is not heavily dyed. hth!
