she was sick last night and this am
been ok since but listless and sleepy but not toooo bad

Now suddenly has a temp of 103

She has never had a stomach bug before I am assuming this is normal, when I googled it said if vomming child has temp over 100 to see a dr, surely not??

Keep her dosed with calpol and nurofen and if temp doesn't go down then call doc.
Strip her down and if she will comply-cool sponging.

Have a look at the self-diagnosis on NHS Direct.

oh poor dd

I had to pick up a prescription today and i noticed they had a vile vomiting bug on the 'bug of the day' board (yes, they really have one!).

foxinsocks · 11/07/2007 18:19

make sure she keeps drinking too

High temperature after tummy bug quite normal in our house. Just keep up the fluid intake. It's good to sleep it off for a day.

do u have an out of hours surgery u could just ring for advice???? i do that when im unsure of things and its really helpful....they usually tell u to give them calpol and then nurofen an hour after taking calpol....plenty of fluids

CD - sorry to hear this - any consolation ds1 (4) had this all weekend. Woke up sat - temp40, didn't eat all of sat and sun and vomited any liquids. COmplained of headache and tummy pains. Kept giving him calpol and nurofen alternately every 2-3 hours. His temp didn't stay down until Mon night unfortunately. I rang my GP Mon afternoon as I was concerned that the temp was so high for so long and his extremeties were starting to 'shut down' (cold, mottled etc.), he said that if it didn't settle that night take him in for them to check ears./throat/wee/chest etc. So I guess anything over 2-3 days then they start to want to check them out.
It did settle and he's Ok now, just a bit washed out. There'a a LOT of it going around apparently. Spoke to 2 mums today who had various children off with it.

HTHs and good luck with it - my dh had it at the same time so we had a wonderful weekend - I have to say poor ds coped better with it

Am glad she's feeling a little brighter and managing to eat a little.
