i am so dd1 was always so slim. no idea what she weighs currently. buty have noticed her belly is getting bigger, little rolls of fat on her chest, legs are chunkier etc. she is average height for a 7yr old, always followed averages. but was a picky eater.

no with a combination of eating on the run for a while, too much cr*p, and her getting lazy and not being as energentic(i hate saying this about my child, i really do, feels awful) i think she has creaked on the weight slowly.

what can i do? i dont want to put her on a diet. but need to change these habits which we have all slipped into, and somehow get dd1 back to how she should be, without giving her a complex or making her think she is fat.

Summer holidays soon, and have planned lots of woodland walks, zoo trips, parks etc.

cant go out much atm due to not having another carers hours, so taking her swimming after school etc is out.

DH is feeling guilty as well.

please help me

How about greek yoghurt with honey?

And frozen yoghurt is a great substitute for icecream.

Agree icepops good in summer as a treat and making your own even better. MAsh uop raspberries and strawberries with raspberry juice and freeze - YUM

MadEyeMisdee · 11/07/2007 17:09

that is a good idea.

thank you for all the suggestions

she has gone fro ma child who picks at her food, to wolfing it down and askign for seconds.

You know Misdee, it sounds to me as if she is about to shoot upwards. I'm not complacent about fat kids, I worry about ds quite a bit, but to me it sounds as if she might be a lot taller quite soon.
And remember my stepdaughter, small and chubby at that age, now tall and super-willowy and spectacularly gorgeous.

awww...like the others said, don't worry to much, and I think it was you yourself wondering if she is going to go through a grothspurt...I find my es is like that...he will chub out a bit and then shoot up and be all back to normal again.
Hulahoops...see if you can get something over Freecycle.
Is your garden big enough for a Trampoline....hours of fun

just had a look at her growth lines on the door. 2005-06 she grew 5inches , so far since june 06, she has grown 2 inches.

so quick possibly due to shoot up a bit soon over the summer.

we have a trampoline, but she wont go on it atm.
