Pressure Sores.

Does anyone have experience of early pressure sores?
I've started to develop a sore on each thigh, from the toilet seat so not the back but sides of my buttocks and thigh.

I'm due a bowel operation at the end of April but until then I will be using the lav 4321 times a day and I want to try and get rid of any sores, halt them.

TIA for any tips.

Is the skin just marked or has it actually broken?

TheQueef · 27/03/2019 07:16

I've almost broken through on the left side the right is just the skin patch.

My mum suffered with them dreadfully. She had a padded toilet seat from occupational health and used Cavilon cream from amazon. It’s expensive but definitely the best cream for the job. You could also get a nurse to dress them properly if they are very bad- they have specific dressings they can use which relieve the pressure.

Thanks Fairy that looks worth a try. I've used sudocrem but it's not making any difference.

Best thing I can think of are Aderma dermal pads - cheapest on eBay from a ten second Google.

Don't use sudocrem. It's very drying which won't help.

If the skin is actually broken I would go to the practice nurse to get it dressed.

Nurse here tissue viability ! You need a padded toilet seat and a barrier cream , cavilon is good , proshield is better . The proshield should be used with the cleansing spray too which is super good if your having your bowels open all the time . It's available if script and occupational therapy can help you with equipment . Also when your using the toilet if your sitting a long time try and move the pressure off by standing a little or tilting side to side even if it's only for seconds , that's what really helps Make an appointment at your GP with the nurse if they are on the ball .

Fairy that should probably read Occupational Therapy, not Health.
I am pretty sure that if you google padded toilet seats, you should find something that will help to distribute the pressure.
I also advise getting advice from your community nursing team before it gets worse.
Poor you, OP.

Yes sorry, OT. My dh works in Occupational health BlushGrin

TheQueef · 27/03/2019 08:42

I've ordered cavilon and the pro shield and the spray (thank God for Amazon prime)
I've got a washable zip on cushion thing but my saggy arse hangs down.
I do try to sit sidewards and vary it but gravity takes over Sad
