I’m terrified

Please talk me down, I really do not want to have it done...
they’re testing for coeliac disease. I’ll be fine if if I just change my diet, I really don’t need to have this test done, right? ...right?!

How did it go Op?

ShartOfGold · 20/03/2019 11:03

Thanks for all your kind words everyone!

It went ok... I agree it’s not the most pleasant experience but it was over very quickly. I had the sedation (they wouldn’t let me have the throat spray as well, they said it’s one or the other!)
The sedation didn’t do an awful lot, took the edge off a little bit but I didn’t fall asleep like I was hoping. But all in all, the thought of it was worse than the actual thing.
I retched an awful lot, ended up with bile on my gown (ew!)

Well done OP, you did it.

When I had this procedure I wasn't offered throat spray or sedation or anything else to make it less uncomfortable, so I am v jealous.

ShartOfGold · 20/03/2019 11:16

Oh god @molly there is no way I would have gone through with it if they didn’t offer me something! You are very brave!

I’m feeling rather proud of myself today Grin I was very close to walking out and not going through with it!
I have a terrible sore throat after it though.

Glad it wasn't as bad as you anticipated, and well done going through with it. Did they tell you anything afterwards?

Sanguineclamp · 20/03/2019 12:36

Bloody well done op Flowers Very brave!

My dh had this done without sedation last week because he needed to work afterwards. There is no way I could even contemplate doing that

Molly that's awful! You shouldn't remember anything if it's done properly (that's what our specialist told us anyway).

Reckon if you are retching and remembering they are trying to save on time and/or money.

@sanguine your husband is a champ! 💪

I actually have posted a thread about the findings in general health, hoping someone may swoop in an explain it a little to me. The nurse told me he said it looks unlikely to be coeliac. I know I need to wait for biopsy results for definitive diagnosis but I’m confused about what else it could be then? Why the positive blood test? 🤔 although I’d rather not have coeliac disease, I really hope I didn’t put myself through that gastroscopy for nothing!

Well he's either brave or mad Shart one of the two!

Hope the results come back soon and you get your questions answered without too much delay.

MollyHuaCha · 20/03/2019 21:38

Hope you get results soon. Smile

ShartOfGold · 20/03/2019 22:13

Thanks both. I hope I get them soon too!
Ah well, may as well put it all to the back of my mind for now
