colonoscopy the countdown....hand holding needed.

Had my last meal 1pm cut off. 7pm I start drinking a litre of this liquid for two hours. Then again from 6am tomorrow I drink another litre of it. Booked into hospital at 1pm. I am shit scared so to speak. Hand holding needed. Scared...

My sedation meant that I was out of it, until a nurse shook me calling my name I was back in my hospital bed. I was having a lovely dream as well Grin

@Bobbin It was awesome. I told the Dr that I’d had sedation before at the dentist so wasn’t concerned and he told me theirs was even better than the regular one! Smile

I had mine in the uk, they only sedate you properly if you request it, and if you want proper sedation you have to stay in longer and you are on the waiting list for months. I just had gas and air and a cannula in my arm for anti spasm meds etc. I wish I could get properly sedated as I find them excruciatingly painful!

Buster the sedation I had (IV and fucking marvellous) at Addenbrooks is absolutely routine. I think you'd have to ask if you didn't want it. I was not unconscious at all, just floaty and very chatty. Grin
Neither did I have to stay in any longer than it took to have a cup of tea and a couple of digestive biscuits. And it was done within a month. Addenbrooks is a centre of excellence for this procedure.

I had one 4 years ago...the procedure itself was a doddle....it was the vile liquid i had to drink that i struggled with....i had my colonoscopy on a saturday morning and was out at a xmas party that night and felt fine x
