IBS - advice?

dh suggested i have IBS. because a lot of food make me sick to my stomach and stress sends me right to the toilet (TMI!!!!!!)
i'm yet to get thru to my GP's for an appt. but last time i mentioned my stomach issues, he told me it was probably stress causing them. (!?!?!?) i know stress is one of its triggers now.... (really destressing right now isnt really an option, just coping the best i can..)

or is there something decent i can take from the chemists until i can see my GP?

You can get ibuscopan over the counter.
have a really good look at your diet.
I found that cutting down dramatically on dairy products and wheat really helped.
Yoga and pilates are also great ways to relax.

i'm examining my diet a lot.

i've heard horror stories about those chinese teas! (the smell and taste!) although treating this off the nhs right now isnt really an option

i just know i cant go on with my stomach so messed up seeing a GP tomorrow. (not more normal one, i asked to see a lady GP this time.)

Anti anxiety medication can help. I find stress is a major trigger and almost have to prepare myself for an attack when I know I am going to come under stress. Pure aloe vera gel (you drink it) works for me, it is revolting but definitely helps if I take it early on in an attack. I also find raw onion, garlic etc make it worse and have to cut down on the fibre when I feel an attack coming on. Bear in mind, some GPs will be more sympathetic to you than others...... I have tried the usual medication they gave, colofac? I think, made bugger all difference but may work for you.

the only thing my GP has recommended for the anxiety are beta-blockers and the side effects of those (feeling sluggish, etc.) arent that appealing. (esp. with a 3 year old who is very active.) i am hoping the GP i see tomorrow is more sympathic.
