Can you get get health insurance for an existing condition?

I have a shoulder injury and I need to see a physio, I booked the appointment and they asked if I had health insurance, i don't but I'm thinking it might be a good idea and wondering if I could get it for a injury I already have?

I am a fitness instructor so I think health insurance would be a good idea

They won't treat an existing condition, they wouldn't make any money if people waited to get insurance until they needed it.

Health insurance can be a good idea - but no insurance company would consider insuring you for a pre-existing injury. Same as if you tried to get car insurance after you'd had an accident .

It's worth looking at the small print.

Some companies say they WILL cover a previous condition IF two years have elapsed since any claim and no recurrence in that time. They will not cover for long term / chronic conditions anyway.

They will not cover you if you are waiting for treatment etc at the time you apply.

And for your current circs- no, they won't pay up!

Insurance insures against the RISK that you will develop a condition. If you already have the condition, that risk has already become a reality, hence the insurer cannot make any money by insuring you. This is why you have to answer the questions about your health, before insurers will give a quote and offer you cover.
