Since i stopped taking rigevidon two and a half years ago my skin has been so bad I haven't had clear skin since.

From the age of about 16 to 20 my skin had become freely and I had lots of breakouts and then I started taking the pill until I became pregnant and 21 years old I seem to have clear skin up until two and a half years ago. and I'm so fed up I've given it in I decided to start taking the pill again even though I don't want to.

I'm in my late 20s and I'm sick to death not having a clear skin day where is when I was on the pill I only broke out during my period.

all my spots around chin and don't get me wrong then not acne but they are spots and I can't wear make-up.

I’m following as in a similar boat. I’ve just gone back on to microgynon after a war or so off t and also have really bad spots again. All over my face but constantly around my chin and corners of my mouth. I’m almost 29 and it’s affecting my confidence that I still look like a spotty teenager. I don’t know if there’s another pill I could try that won’t make me break out.

How do you know it's not acne?

My DD had spots ( as an adult) and to the casual eye they looked just like spots. Dermatologist diagnosed acne and said it was best to use an 'aggressive' treatment to prevent scarring. She was put on Roaccutane and it really helped though her spots have come back a bit .

It's worth seeing a specialist for advice and treatment.

Has your GP said it isn't acne?

I know nothing about medication for acne/spots but my son has just undergone a course of Dermalux Laser treatment for his skin. He's 14 and was getting huge boils around his jawline and forehead and the laser therapy has stopped all of those, it's also helped with the scars he had from them, which was his initial worry. He said he could cope with the spots but not being left with scars.

He still gets small normal teenage spots but no but sore boils.

I don't work got them was just recommended by a friend and although it's been ££ it's really worth it. Was snot £150 for 3 weeks treatment and now it'll be just £15 a week going forward.

Just my 2 pence worth. Had acne all my life. Especially on my forehead. I found keeping my hair really clean works. Wash every day. Avoid touching your face. Wash your face 6 times a day and use an moisture lotion for oily skin. As the sebum gland is in overdrive. Hydrate the skin. Drink lots of water. Stress is also a major cause in spots . Always get a flair up.
Try and cut out sugary products. And keep this up with some sunlight. It will work. The same as pills. They and harsh creams really dry the skin out badly. I wish I knew this 20 years ago. The sebum gland is was regulates the amount of oil your face needs. So if produced too much, your pores clog
Hope that helps

How on earth do you have time to wash your face 6 times a day?!? 😂 I could never keep up with that schedule!

purpleberry11 · 10/03/2019 21:24

How long does it really take to wash your face , I do it when I go to the toilet, or you can just use those face wipes , to remove daily dirt. Anything better than having bad skin. Plus it gets me down when I have a flair up.
