GP unwilling to prescribe anti-sickness & strong painkillers.

I've an abdominal condition for a couple of years, and have attended A&E numerous times with pain flares and nausea/vomiting.

I've been taking Tramadol for a number of years for an unrelated condition. The Tramadol doesn't touch the pain of these pain flares.

It was suggested I be prescribed Oxycodone with dose titrated to deal with pain flares, and anti-nausea meds. However after a month, GP is unhappy to give Oxycodone, and heavily restricts the amount of anti-sickness meds.

I'm having multiple, very severe, pain flares each week, and have attended A&E for these, but am somewhat reluctant to do so, and use emergency resources.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Do you see a consultant about the condition? CAn you talk to either your specialist or A&E about ways to increase your ability to manage at home. Have you asked for a refferal to a pain specialist?ll
