Homeopathic remedies

Sorry, I've really just come here for a rant but I've no idea who else to talk to...

This morning dp brought me some New Era Hayfever tablets as my eyes are itching and my throat is sandpaper. I turned round to find him with a handful in his hand and I said that you're not supposed to touch them. He then goes on and on about me doing it my way, he'll just do it his way... I tried to point out that this is the way you're instructed to do it, slip them into cap and then pop in mouth without touching.., he continues to go on about 'paranoia' and various other things as if I don't know wtf i'm talking about and therefore neither do the Homeopathic Remedy manufacturers. I ended up so angry I just stood in the garden and screamed! Literally

This is exactly the reason why i never try to stand up for myself or challenge anyone about stuff co i end up treated like this. My previous boss was an example.

So I haven't taken any yet and my hayfever is driving me nuts!

Thnaks for listening

Tell him to keep his hands to himself but thank him very much for fetching them .

I'm intrigued by a homoeopathic "remedy" that can't be touched.
Do they say why ?
Does it involve elves ?

CoteDAzur · 08/07/2007 18:20

Well, if it's any consolation, your hayfever would still be driving you nuts even if you had taken the 'untouchable' tablets that contain not a molecule of the active substance

Seriously, why don't you get some antihistamines? I would think that at least in a condition like allergies for which there is an established and harmless remedy, nobody would be tempted to chase the homeopathy dream.

DominiConnor - I found that interesting as well and Googled it. This is what came up. Scroll down to "How do I take a homeopathic remedy?" and enjoy .

Forget the 'no touch' rule. My personal favorite is that apparently "certain odors interfere with the remedy, so avoid garlic, onion, toothpaste".

Maybe not elves but vampires are involved?

[Sorry if this offends you, Klaw, but surely you see the comic angle here?]

The linked article is factually wrong at rate of about one lie per three sentences.
There is no "law of similars"
How could there be ?
A half truth is the FDA point. Coca Cola and McDonalds burgers are also "regulated" by the FDA. As it happens McD's is a standard example in the practice of quality control.
I'm not aware that it's burgers cure anything.

What is a "symptom picture" ?
Is this a joke ?
Why not a "symptom song" ?
How about a symptom epic poem in iambic pentatmeter ?

The more diluted it is, the more potent it becomes. That makes perfect sense if you abandon physics, biology and chemistry. I suspect if I try hard enough I can show that to be wrong in terms of theoretical computer science.

The reason I get down on this stuff, is that this is a forum for people who care for children. By endorsing quack remedies you at the very least cause children to suffer more, and if the disease is left untreated whilst the parent exposes both the defects in their education and personal integrity, it can damage their health.
