Ankle pain - unable to bear weight

Hello all

I've recently taken up couch25k as I approach 50. I don't find it easy and am doing it just once a week with work colleagues. After last week's run, my right ankle seemed tender to touch and a little swollen on the ankle bone itself. I don't remember twisting it or anything.
This week we ran and I struggled so much I couldn't run the last section and ended up hobbling back to the car.
On my drive home, my ankle was increasingly painful and I couldn't bear weight on it. I've tried ice which made it throb and took some ibuprofen and I'm now lying in bed and the ankle still feels very tender. If I try to lift my ankle from the bed, it's painful.
I need to go to work tomorrow. My boss won't take kindly to me taking time off with a self-inflicted injury and so I don't feel I can stay at home to rest.
Should I go to minor injuries tomorrow or wait for a few days to see if it gets better. I'm usually quite good with pain but this is very uncomfortable.

Potential compression fracture maybe? Seek medical advice, hope all is ok op.

Also, boss surely doesn’t need full disclosure, just keep to the point. Ankle injury, unable to weightbare, seeking professional opinion.

Thanks for your reply.

Took myself to MIU where i had an x-ray. No fracture but assessed as a bad sprain. Ankle was very swollen and red but after resting it yesterday, the swelling has reduced significantly.
