Can anyone help identify this bite?

Hi
Can anyone help identify this bite? I'm not able to get out to the pharmacist tomorrow but it's driving me mad. It's very sore and the skin around it is hot to the touch and the immediate area is quite hard to the touch. I've no idea what's bitten me , if it's even a bite at all.
Any ideas ?

Not sure what it is, but can draw a line around the red area, so the pharmacist can see how it’s spreading?

I'm no expert but it could be a horsefly. That's the kind of reaction I get when I've been bitten by a horsefly. Try putting some vinegar on it

Oh sorry, you cannot make it to chemist’s, so just for your own information.

Normal vinegar? As in brown vinegar ?

Or do I need white vinegar?

Looks more like a boil to me than any sort of bite. I'd be going with a warm salt water compress to try and draw out the infection.

Forget my advice, use a cold compress, to try and take the heat out of it.

Looks like it could be a boil/abscess/carbuncle. Does it hurt? If it's one of them you'll need medical intervention... hurts like fuck

Ceebeegee · 04/03/2019 07:01

@PoshPenny yeah it really hurts. I've been in just pants most of yesterday because wearing any trousers or leggings just catches it.

I hate to say it but that sounds like an abscess to me (I had one right before Christmas). Make yourself a doctors appointment, and tell them what it is when you phone as the recommendation is to put you on antibiotics before it bursts... otherwise you'll need to call the out of hours service.
