Suspected SQUINT....Anyone heard of THIS?

Well bit of history first ...

My dh had squints in both eyes when a toddler and had to have both eyes operated on, i have worn glasses since 5YO for short sightedness, and dd (3 yo) has a difference between eyes just borderline to needing glasses (long sighted) so a very strong family history there....

Suspected ds has asquint for a few weeks, but both eyes seem to have a bit of a weakness, left more than right, so got him referred to eye specialist (can't spell the correct term! lol) but he was due to be referred anyway, anyway i took him on friday and the lady did all the usual tests, but when she shined the light into his eyes, she said people with no squint the light reflects directly in the middle of the pupil, but both ds's were on the edge of the pupil, but she couldn't actually "see" the squint(s), it does seem worse when he is tired, and only occasionally does it anyway so didnt think she would actually see it anyway.

She is referring us to have the drops with the specialist, but was just wondering if anyone elses LO had been told this? She said both eyes had the same difference

Thanks for reading

There's another thread about squints at the moment.
Don't worry too much. It sounds very minor. Get the tests done and they will probably reassure you.

Hathor...Yes that has what spurred me to start this thread, didn't want to hijack the other

Just seeing if anyone else has had this said.

right. at aged 10months (jan 06) dd3 had a special trial eye test which bought up the fact she was v vv v long sighted. her eyes were perfectly straight, no squint. finally seen at eye clinic in June 06. when they checked her eyes they said her axis were bad, and she would at some point develope a significant squint.

in jan-mar ch 2007, despite wearing glasses since june 06, her right eye started turning in. at her last eye test in may, she 'failed' it as she had stopped using her right eye and couldnt see properly even with her glasses. she has been patched daily since then for an hour at a time. and has a review in 2 weeks time and possibly a new perscription.

not sure what you are asking but my son had a squint but perfectly straight eyes. one eye had sort of switched off. it was still called a squint

specs sorted him out without the need for patching
