Low iron levels - Floradix or Spatone?

I've been diagnosed with low iron levels and recommended either Floradix or Spatone - any recs for which has the least side effects?

I had terrible diarrhoea when I took liquid iron just after childbirth but not sure which type it was. Iron tablets were worse (constipation).

Don't feel too ill or anything so was trying to avoid taking anything but combination of immune suppressant meds means iron levels are dropping further so unavoidable...

It rather depends on how low your levels are. if they are just a bit on the low side, you may get away with an OTC supplement like Spatone or Floradix. If you're actually deficient, then your GP should prescribe.

For what it's worth, I've never found either effective.

I find Spatone the best/least non irritating personally and I've tried quite a few "gentle" types including Floradix. My recommendation would be to try a small box (14 sachets?) of the apple flavour and see how you get on before buying tons.

Have given Spatone a go and seems fine. Was recommended by GP so don't think my iron levels are really low. Will have another blood test in a couple of months and see if its made any difference at all.

Bit of a waste of money if it makes no difference but not sure that can be avoided!
