My GP booked me for a 24 hour blood pressure monitor. I got that done yesterday. I had to visit the nurse at the practice to be fitted with the monitor.

I didn't like the monitor at all during the day. For the most part it was ok but here were times ot got very tight and was slow to deflate. I actually let out a huge help and had to go for the button to turn off.

The night time was great. I didn't notice it at all, all night and I slept very well.

I had to go back to return the monitor today. The nurse had a quick look at the numbers and showed me the screen. Overall, on average, it was good. Night time showed great readings. Yesterday during the day, there were good at times and other times not so great and them numbers were boderline high blood pressure.

Currently waiting for the Doctor to have a look and they will phone me back. Has anyone been in this position before? What's the outcome? I don't want to be put on meds. I'm useless at taking medicines.

I suspect a lifestyle change will be in order.

I used to smoke but I don't any more.
I very rarely drink
I'm overweight/obese. All the weight going to my stomach.

Losing weight reduces your BP as does reducing alcohol, meditating and taking exercise.

If you're able to make some lifestyle changes there's probably no need for any medication and best to avoid the mess if you can manage the condition without them imo.

Avoid the mess? Avoid the meds!
