Small Prolapse

After some opinions really

I have a small prolapse and have had since I gave birth 15 years ago. It’s got slightly bigger recently as I have put weight on.

I know what it is because I used to work in a gynae clinic BUT I generally saw much much bigger prolapses regularly and so I have a much higher threshold for getting it seen IYSWIM

I have recently been considering seeing the GP about it as I have been single 10 years now but I am now at the stage where it would put me off having sex. I also have a badly scarred and damaged perineum but had (failed) surgery to resolve that 12 years ago.

Is it worth getting seen or should I just carry on living with it and try to lose weight?

I'd say get checked out. Incidentally, what does a bad prolapse look like? I've just discovered mine so haven't made an appointment yet. To be it feels horrific but I have nothing to compare it too and it could be fairly mild!

In a serious prolapse the vaginal wall really bulges at the entrance and the skin goes taut, pink and shiny. It loses the ridges.

If the uterus is prolapsing the cervix can sometimes be seen.

Do you have a heavy dragging feeling - I do every time I walk the dog 😔

Yeah I can see something coming out when I look with a mirror. I have a feeling it's my uterus and cervix I'm looking at but can't be totally sure. Is that classed as a mild one if it's visible? Since having my second child things haven't felt right but I just presumed that was due to 2 vaginal deliveries, one being forceps and 3rd degree year so things might not have gone back to normal. But the bit that is now sticking out doesn't seem right at all.

Definitely definitely get the GP to have a look as it’s near enough impossible to assess your own prolapse with a mirror. Frankly you are at the wrong angle all the time.

I only know about mine because they mentioned it when I had my previous surgery but they said it was small. I can feel mine (sorry tmi) when I wipe which is different to what it was.

Hope.you get sorted too. If I were you I'd go gp and get referred to someone. Even if just for peace of mind
