Apparently selsun is having a manufacturing problem. Any other ideas?

Great stuff, all very helpful information.
Thank you

DilboJim01 · 15/04/2019 12:49

Sorry, meant to reply to a previous post!

I was in exactly the same position, absolutely desperate for the suppliers to sort out whatever the production/supply issue is.
So I was forced to buy one of the alternatives from eBay, in this case the Australian version. 3 uses later and there has been significant improvement.
For me, Selsun shampoo is the ONLY product to ever calm Seb. Dermatitis.
Obviously it's a sellers market at the moment though!

Apparently, wholesalers will start receiving new stock at the back end of June this year

FWIW I’ve always used Nizoral and find it really effective, usually order it on amazon.

DilboJim01 · 16/05/2019 21:24

Hope so...
Thank you

I've been using some Selsun I ordered from Thailand alongside Nizoral shampoo, but been really struggling as neither make a reliable difference to the seb derm I get on my nose (and either side of it), between my eyebrows and in my facial hair area. In the past I've tried anti-fungal pills and antibiotics but they take their toll on my system and I'm hoping to avoid taking them again. (Besides which they never have much of an impact.) Topical steroids are an absolute non-negotiable, been burnt by them and the red skin syndrome rebound!

Am thinking of using canesten clotrimazole cream, very carefully. Has anyone ever tried this? Since seb derm is fungal and no doubt thrush or candida-related, I'm wondering about using it.

jadeallanah · 25/06/2019 16:42

Hi! Unsure if this is any help but i have found selsun 2.5% on a website called medina.com! My mam swears that it’s like the one she used to use years ago when she was suffering with tinea versicolor and has recommended it to me to try after finding out i have it also! £4.99 ish a bottle i believe, yet to try but thought it was worth mentioning! :)

interminablehellishwhatever · 25/06/2019 18:04

It's out of stock on that site and has been for ages, but thanks anyway.

I don't advise using canesten on seb derm, having now tried it Sad

jadeallanah · 25/06/2019 19:13

I ordered 2 bottles from medino yesterday and arrived today! might be worth checking their stock regularly! x

interminablehellishwhatever · 26/06/2019 12:13

Funny how a search for posts you've made brings up just two, the ones you've written on this thread. And you said "4.99ish a bottle I believe" and the very next day you're posting about how your order has arrived next day delivery. Surely you'd be certain of the price in that scenario, if you weren't just recommending the site to get it some traffic. Well, it hasn't worked with me. Like all the other online pharmacy sites I've been googling for selsun these last few months, it is permanently out of stock and if you'd bothered to read the whole thread you'd know it has been, and why. I'll make a point of swerving medino in future.

People who suffer with skin disorders like pityriasis versicolour and seb derm have often suffered fruitless years of trying everything possible to heal their skin without making it worse. Clickbait posts like yours are thoughtless and unkind.

And for what it's worth, I rarely trust anyone who follows every single sentence in their posts with exclamation marks! I should've smelt the BS!

Fibbke · 26/06/2019 12:16

Nizoral got rid of mine

I used it neat and massaged it into dry skin and left it overnight. Did this two or three times and it went never to return.

interminablehellishwhatever · 29/06/2019 06:22

I tried your tip. Woke up with my skin feeling and looking much redder and more sore, so unfortunately it isn't safe to leave it on facial seb derm overnight. Even after rinsing off with cold water it stung and felt 'burnt'. Thank god for fuller's earth cream! Has really soothed the skin, although it doesn't absorb very well so isn't ideal appearance-wise.

Fibbke · 29/06/2019 07:51

Seb derm? I was talking about pityriasis.

interminablehellishwhatever · 29/06/2019 10:00

This thread has diverged a bit because it attracted lots of Selsun users. No worries, this latest flare has convinced me it's time for another course of anti fungals from the doc anyway.

TitianaTitsling · 29/06/2019 10:10

Sorry to go back to Selsun but I've found this if any help?

Selsun unavailable everywhere I try, what else for Pityriasis versicolour?
jadeallanah · 02/07/2019 20:52

Disheartened at the reply I’ve gotten here from you considering I only replied to this whole thread to help. And yes, the only thing I have posted are on this thread because I made the account purely to help out anyone on this thread looking for selsun😂. I apologise for not being fully accurate with how much the product cost, only reason I wrote 4.99 ish was because it was very cheap compared to the results everyone else was finding on ebay and amazon, didn’t know I had to be exactly accurate! And yes, I paid for Standard shipping and it arrived very quick, unsure what that has got to do with anything? I wasn’t in any way trying to get traffic to medino’s website, and this post wasn’t clickbait, I’m a 19 year old teenager and genuinely do suffer from pityriasis versicolor, not that I need to prove myself to you when I only posted in this thread in the hopes of helping someone out. Swerve medino all you’d like, it makes no difference to me. If anybody is unkind, it’s yourself, and very rude too! I am very aware that selsun is sold out on many websites, but it just so happened that I saw it was available on that site and thought I would share it on this thread, however I’ll avoid doing so in the future if I’m going to receive replies as disgusting as yours. And in regards to your comment on my use of punctuation, it was worth nothing. Thanks!!!!!!!

interminablehellishwhatever · 02/07/2019 21:48

@jadeallanah please accept my apologies, I'm really sorry for having a go at you. Your latest post is very genuine so I have no reason to think your first posts weren't and I hope you can forgive my angry post. Thank you for being supportive and trying to help sufferers like me. I'm not blaming anyone else but when I went to medino and looked for selsun it said out of stock and I jumped to the wrong conclusion. it comes from feeling vulnerable recently because I'm struggling with my skin and nothing else I'd ever tried had helped much, except for Selsun.

I know you're totally unimpressed with how I reacted but I'd like to apologise again for upsetting you and really hope selsun will help you. Almost miraculously I've discovered this week that if I rub some crushed banana on the affected area, leave for 10 mins then rinse, and do the same with honey straight after, then when my skin is dry rub a thin slice of cucumber on it and dab some witch hazel on a couple of times a day, my seb derm is the most under control it has been for months. So maybe it could help your versicolor, worth a try Flowers

RogueV · 03/07/2019 09:28

I have used everything including a course of anti fungal tablets and nothing seems to work. Looks like I’m stuck with it for life Sad

CeriEds · 17/07/2019 17:15

OK TEAM - P&G dont care about their customers as they have cornered the Selenium Sulphide stock and thats why Elvive and Selsun cant produce. P&G wanted to drive traffic to thier premium Head and Shoulders product at abou £6.50 a bottle BUT it has backfired.
Anyway look up SULSENA shampoo - made in Ukrane and top quality - Can get 150ml for about £10.00 on Ebay and worth every penny. This comes from a 50 years mild psoriasys sufferer.
