Low amine Migraine diet

I don't think this post will be relevant to many people, so sorry! But if you are a chronic migrainer who can offer me any help please help!!! I've suffered from severe chronic migraine since age 5. During my teens and twenties I looked to control the attacks with alternative or natural remedies including diet (alongside lower doses of migraine medication). I've tried lots of different restrictive and food avoidance diets in the past and nothing worked so I gave up and now in my 40s with two young children, I don't have time for migraines to put me to bed vomiting for hours at a time several times a week, so I just take lots of medications to reduce and cover the attacks and plough on! This approach is really taking its toll on my mental and physical health, so after a visit to the neurologist recently I've decided to try and revisit areas I may have missed in the past. I'm going to try avoiding vaso-active amines in my diet. The problem is, that the neurologist and dietitian at the hospital have given me a list of foods high in vaso-active amines to avoid, but while researching online I have found lots of foods that say they are high, but not on the dietitians list. It's bewildering and I don't want to be on such a restrictive diet if I'm still accidentally eating high foods as I won't be able to tell how this is affecting my migraines. Has anyone out there tried and had success with a low vaso-active amine diet and if so can you share your tips and advice on what you could and couldn't eat??? I'll be so grateful if anyone can help x

Hi OP, sorry I have no advice because I've never heard of this approach before. Like you I've tried excluding foods from my diet but while I've had some success I still get fairly frequent attacks. Anyway, I wanted to bump your thread to see if it helps get someone's attention who can help!
