Help my 5 year old has split skin at the top of her bum

My daughter had an accident while in the paddling pool on holiday two years ago. She slipped and landed badly on her bottom, we later realised that she'd managed to split the skin at the top of her bottom, the coccyx area. It looked very sore, and over the coming days it developed into bullous impetigo, it ravaged her poor little body, had various trips to doctors and a&e back home. It cleared up after about 2weeks. However since then the skin is still splitting, it's as if the skin is really thin in that area? We use sudo cream and have been prescribed Daktarin and Fucidin cream which doesn't seem to help at all. I've been wondering if I should use talc to help dry her bum, but I'm reading all sorts of nasty stuff about that. We are going on holiday in 8 weeks and want to be in and out of the pool. I'm scared that her skin will split and get infected again. Poor little thing must be so uncomfortable. Any advice or suggestions please. TIA X

I have similar, sorry if this is tmi but I also eczema in that area. It gets very sore especially when I'm hot, as it itches so splits open easily as.its really difficult not to scratch. I used sudocrem up until a few weeks ago when I realised it was actually making it worse. I now use metanium to soothe and heal and diprobase once a day to moisturise. Sometimes when I get really hot at night a small amount of liquid talc really helps to stop it itching due to sweat which stops me scratching without realising and opening it back up.

Thank you Bubblysqueak for tip on the metanium and diprobase creams I will speak with doc about those! My daughter fortunately doesn't have eczema but the itchiness can't be helping as you say it is opening it up again. I suppose another thing is fragranced products possibly aggravating it. Can I ask what soaps and body washes you use with your sensitive skin? Just wondering if there is something that would help heal and soothe rather than irritate?

Honestly? I rekon putting the creams on it won't be helping. I get this . Occassionally I put Germaine on it but the thing that helps is talc. Plenty of talc to keep it dry.

If still not healing , I'd get it swabbed to see if there is an infection there.

Thanks Forthehellofit Yes I agree, I think I'll give talc a go and see nurse for swab.
