Bum crack bleeds from time to time

Just that. It started twenty years ago and have to keep it from splitting by putting emulsifying ointment or sudacreme on it every day. The trouble is that the spit was a thin red line but over the years the scar tissue has widened. It can be very painful so that sitting down is uncomfortable until healing is complete. I once asked a GP about it and when I told her about the emulsifying cream she said she didn’t know what else I can do. That I must come back if it gets infected. Has anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like an anal fissure. I'm sure there is more that can be done. Could you see a different GP?

Is it more the skin under the tailbone? I get that, but not very often. It happens if I'm rough with paper, or my skin pulls when I move in a chair or especially in the bath.

Ah do you mean in the crease between your cheeks rather than your anus?

HappydaysArehere · 18/02/2019 10:11

It’s right at the top of my bottom where it goes into a kind of dent before the spine but it curves around into the top of the bottom. Difficult to explain unless you can imagine a builders bottom and put an x right at the top of the crack! The mind boggles!

Thank you dementedpixie but it isn’t in the actual anus and I am never constipated. Trying to explain more clearly above.

Maybe look up "rowers butt/bum" for some ideas on how to prevent or ease flare ups and pain.

Antiseptic wipes twice a day, lots of talcum powder to keep it dry. It's usually a problem with the area being damp/sweaty.

HappydaysArehere · 18/02/2019 21:05

StopMakingAfoolOutofme thank you. I have been keeping it creamed. Thank you I will get antiseptic wipes and talc tomorrow. Will see if I can get medicated talc.
Thank you Mashedspud. I will look that up.
