Changing mole

Dd(23) has a mole on her back. Got it checked last month by GP and he poo-pooed her when she mentioned it. It's got bigger has changed shaped and is raised now. She's worried he'll brush her off again when the NHS website says you should get them checked if they change. Any advice please?

Take a photo and measure it. Monitor it to see if it does change/grow. Also, can u see a different doctor at the surgery?

Ask for a second opinion at your GP surgery. Push for it. Don't let an initial brush off or "fear" about poo pooing put you off. If the second GP doesn't take you seriously, present at A&E.

Go back to doctors for second opinion. Don't let them gob you off without referring to a specislist. It may be nothing sinister but any mole that changes should be investigated. I deal with lesions every day and many turn out to be benign but I wouldn't be waiting and watching by myself.
From the NHS website
It's important to get a new or existing mole checked out if it:
• changes shape or looks uneven
• changes colour, gets darker or has more than 2 colours
• starts itching, crusting, flaking or bleeding
• gets larger or more raised from the skin
These changes can happen over weeks or months. They're sometimes a sign of melanomaa_, a type of skin cancer.

If it is genuinely a changing mole you need to see a dermatologist.

However, if your GP could tell it wasn't harmful it's more than likely a seborrhoeic keratosis - this is what loads of people show me saying they have a raised mole. It's not a mole, it's a wart and it's totally non-harmful. Google some pics to see if it's that.

If it's not, take pictures to demonstrate it changing and go back to the GP.

The lighter edges are the changes. Obviously she'll still see the Doctor but interested to see if you think it's the one you mentioned Hippo

Hard to tell from one pic but I'd say likely Seb K from the appearance, note it looks to be pitted like a wart not smooth like a mole. Get someone in RL to double check for you.

Looks very similar to this google image of a seb K

I have lots of warts that look like this. They do change in shape rapidly in the way you describe. They have a particular name that i forget. Go back to GP and ask what it is. Only when I did this did they tell me it was actually a wart. If you're prone, you can develop new ones throughout life. They aren't infectious.

Okay thanks. I'll post on Tuesday and let you know what her Doc says

Gp has referred her to the derm. I'll update when that happens so if anyone searches something similar they can see the outcome. Thanks again for your replies
