Severe travel sickness

Does anyone suffer from this and has anything helped? I can get sick on all transport - if I'm in a car I have to be driving and I won't get buses long distance at all now. The nausea and dizziness can last for days afterwards. I'm going on 2 holidays this year which involve quite a bit of travel and I'm just starting to dread them. It seems to be getting worse as I get older. Any advice would be really welcome.

I get this on (and after being on) boats.
It leaves me feeling lightheaded and nauseous for ages.

I used to get travel sick in cars even on short journeys as a child. I also had really bad morning (all day) sickness whilst pregnant. I do wonder whether it's all connected.

Have you tried accupressure wrist bands?

Dd suffers from travel sickness - the only thing that has helped is Cinnizine tablets (available over the counter). I've also taken them for sea sickness.
You have to take them 2 hours beforehand.

We do all the usual things - no reading/ipad in car, limit food before/during journeys etc.

(We tried hyocin tablets and the wrist bands - no help whatsoever.)

I've always suffered from travel sickness. I've found I'm better when driving but over the last couple of years I've found myself feeling sick/nauseous when driving occasionally. I often feel a bit odd, sort of shaky for 24 hours and my tummy feels delicate as well.

Don't know why, but I'm better with a full stomach of food and if I start feeling iffy can delay the worst of it by eating a sandwich slowly and crisps are fairly good - I almost suck them and I think the salt helps. I'm worse if I've had a lot to drink in the hour before travelling, ie cup of coffee, glass of water as I guess it's still working it's way through my system.

Thanks all - yes the wrist bands used to help but no longer seem to. I think I need to see the GP again. It's just so limiting and can be so severe now - on one recent car journey (an hour of winding single track roads) my husband had to stop to let me out to be sick around 4 or 5 times and it took me days to recover. I never used to think twice about travel and now I have to plan everything in detail. For example in a few months I'm.going away for the weekend with friends. One mentioned that there is a massive shopping outlet around an hour away that runs shuttle buses to and from the city - I already know there is no way I can go because it involves bus travel.

OP - do give cinnizine a go if you haven't already. Dd suffered terribly from car sickness, even on short journeys she was sick multiple times. Cinnizine has really helped.
