Lower back pain every morning! Anyone else got this?

So every single morning when I wake up I have lower back pain, it seems to be in the arch of my back!

I have a really good mattress so it can't be that! I usually sleep on either one of my sides or my back. Any idea what could be causing this?

Also how to help it? I'm thinking Pilates might help with posture and strengthening! Any tips welcome :)

Does it stop when you’ve been to the loo? A full bladder can put pressure on nerves in your back apparently.

You might think you have a really good mattress, but it might not be right for you.
If you have a spare single duvet, fold it top to bottom. Place it on your mattress and sleep on top of it for a few days. See if that makes a difference.

I had this a while back - couldn’t stay in bed once I woke up. My back felt too arched !
I read advice to sleep with a pillow under my knees and, thinking “that’ll never help” put a pillow under my knees and the pain went!
Forced myself to sleep like that for a couple of weeks. Much better sleep quality- I was dreaming again and would wake up remembering dreams which I hadn’t done for ages - I think I’d just been almost waking up throughout the night.
Also went to my osteopath who did some muscle massage and then cracked my back. Was v sore for a day but then nothing.
Pain completely gone now.

I get it a lot. Yes Pilates helps. Mine has been investigated as there was a question mark about rheumatoid arthritis.

I haven’t got it but an X-ray showed a missing vertebrae and also I am hypermobile. Are you bendy? Do your knees and elbows lock back when they’re straight? It can help to get orthotics in your shoes- raised inner soles.
Also if I carry heavy things it’s really affected.

Thank you all for the replies :)

It doesn't stop when I've been to the toilet! I think it gets better as the day goes on but I do have a lot of back and shoulder pain in the day which I think is due to posture

No I'm not super bendy so I don't think that's the problem.

I do think I need to see an osteopath again soon and Pilates to strengthen I think :)

Try sleeping without a pillow. Give it a week.

Lots of videos on Youtube, too.

Mine was solved with a change in pillows and a tennis ball. Stand with the tennis ball between your back and a handy wall - roll it about. The pillows use as they are designed to do. Asda had a handy guide as to the right type for your sleeping position.

I had this for years. Solution for me was an osteopath to unlock everything, then exercise exercise exercise. If I run and use weights, plus some yoga, everything is fine. If I stop for a week or so, the pain comes back.
