Hey Sarha, I was diagnosed with hpv a few years ago after a routine smear, it was found because I had abnormal cells of cervical erosion which I believe are just different ways of saying what you also have. Honestly, do not worry!! I totally freaked when I found out and cried a lot but now I don’t even think about it. In fact, my neighbour and 3 of my best friends all have this it is SO common, more women have it than don’t and as long as you keep getting your smears whenever they tell you to it’s harmless and totally treatable so honestly, don’t worry it’s not as scary as it sounds and you are definately not alone Flowers

Hi Sarha, cervical erosion can cause abnormal cells in the cervix, so you would’ve tested on a smear for having abnormal cells? This process is almost always caused by hpv. In other words almost everyone who finds out they’ve got cervical erosion will have hpv alongside it. I tested positive for mild cervical erosion and hpv 4 years ago. Fast forward 4 years and my bodies naturally returned to normal as yours most likely will. And if it doesn’t it’s a very minor fast and fully effective method for them to get rid of those cells.

They don’t even test women under the age of 25 for HPV because if they did virtually every woman would have it because they’re so sexiually active at that time. Do you mind me asking how old you are and what they’ve found? Xx

Cervical erosion occurs due to fluctuating hormone levels and the fragile cells that line the neck of the womb end up protruding out to the cervix. They are fragile and bleed easily. It has absolutely nothing to do with HPV or cancer. These cells are not abnormal in any way. They are not precancerous cells and would not flag as abnormal on a smear test. I’ve had an ectropian for years and consistently normal smear.
