Are gall bladder/gall stones hereditary

A bit of a long shot ... but, I’m wondering if anyone knows what the likelihood of me inheriting gall-bladder problems / gallstones are - from my dad’s mum (paternal grandmother).
I’ve got liver issues at the moment ... with no obvious cause (apart from being overweight).

I think so. Both parents had them. I had them...

There’s also the four Fs. Fair, fat, forty and fertile. Meaning I think more prevalent in white middle aged overweight people who have been through pregnancy. All true of me and my mum. Not my dad though ConfusedGrin. My gall bladder went wonky about four months after pg.

My mother had them in her late twenties, I had them in my late twenties and my daughter is now in her mid twenties and possibly having symptoms of.

I realise that's purely anecdotal evidence though.

I was 23 and weighed 7.5 stone. My sister was 32 and bearly 8 stone My paternal grandmother had them.

Thank you for getting back to me ... it’s kind to have your anecdotal comments - which certainly seem to lean one way. I’m just trying to pin down my wonky liver readings, and was wondering whether apart from these readings, fatigue, possibly running in the family, and one or two painful twinges (one woke me up once and kept me away for an hour right side just below ribs) ... if it’s possible to have a dodgey gallbladder but be mostly symptom free?
